I hate to think of Izzy going hungry- due to personal problems I do not want her to ever get used to the feeling of being hungry (I can miss meals easily and just dont feel hungry and its not good!)

Saying that though I certainly dont keep offering her different things. She has never flatly refused to take anything and will always have a go. If she doesnt take much though I offer her a yoghurt or fruit as she always eats them.

Some see that as giving in, but I have weaned Izzy in a way that she doesnt associate fruit/yoghurt as a 'treat'...its just food so makes no odds if she gets it or not,she wont play up next time just so she can get the fruit

So if she wont eat what you give her and changing the option wont make her think anything special then try offering something else, even toast/cereal is better than nowt. (the other night actually she was fussing, teeth maybe, and I ende up giving her some weetabix!)

thank for the reply lisa..

i dont give in and give her a fruit pot or what not. she wont get one if she wont eat her dinner..
i tired giving her some thing different this morning. as she had scambled eggs and sausage.. she spat out he sausage and would only eat the egg if she fed it to her self and no one was watching... so after that i did her somne toast n then she only had one bit and walked off!

i really odnt know what to do now. every one said just leave her n when she has learnt she is hunrgy she will eat.. but i dont like the idea of not giving her food x

have you tried giving her a spoon, and you having a spoon too?

lewis went through a phase of going absolutely mental when it came to food time, he'd scream for an hour solid, if i managed to get it in he'd scream

now he has a spoon and 'plays'(he tries to feed it to himself) but happily allows me to feed him inbetween his own spoon going in...he's too busy 'playing' to be bothered with me feeding him.

i hate the kids not eating and they have a yogurt most days after dinner so like lisa, if i offer a yogurt to 'top' them up, they don't see it as getting their own way, just moving on to the usual yogurt
