I was told by my HV at the Weaning class i went to, to avoid wholemeal products until they are 1 as they have too much fibrein so the food passes through their body too fast and doesnt give it a chance to take in the nutrients.

ummm we give it to elijah Laughing but only very small amounts - our h.v said that wholemeal pasta/bread can fill them up so they dont eat as much as they should of other things, but eli isnt really eating meals as such so i dont think it matters. i would rather he has wholemeal bread in small portions than loads of white!

we don't eat white bread so it seems so wasteful, i know you can freeze it but its not nice when you defrost, I gave her one slice of wholemeal a few days ago and she seemed fine although was a bit more windy than normal.

i presume as long as u dont give her loads then it will be fine. we only eat white bread so its easy for us to give him white but he doesnt get a load of bread anyway x

I think if you have a LO who doesnt eat very much then you shouldnt be filling them up with wholemeal and in that situation white is best but I don't think it does any harm.

I was told to try it as finger food (toast) as it crumbles easy than white?! Rolling Eyes
We went for 50/50 which worked great for a good few months then went to brown bread after that. Might go back to the 50/50 though, the brown is a bit dry atm x
