Matt and I are wanting to move to the Bedford area to be near his work so we've put our house up on this house swapping website and a man called today to say I'd messaged his friend who wasn't interested in my property but passed on my details to him and he's interested so would like to view it. He's around Brighton way tomorrow so wants to look. Thing is i'm alone (Matt is working away) and there's not anyone to be with me. Matt said I was being silly as he's only going to come look at the property, but I just don't like the thought of same random man coming into my house while i'm alone with Immi. And the fact that his friends passed on my details, i don't really know what his property is to make sure he's legit, and it's quite convinient he happens to be in the area tomorrow all makes me a bit more nervous. Am I being paranoid or would you make sure someone was with you?

Im not sure to be honest hun. I am really cautious though (sometimes too much) so I dont trust anybody. I know what you mean though that he just 'happens' to be in the area. Did he say where he normally lives? x

His house is in Milton Keynes but he wants to move back down south cause he's orginally from Brighton. it's probs all legit but I'm so paranoid and cautious, I don't trust anyone and immediately think I'm in danger x

Have you got a friend who could come over to be with you just while he's there, id be the same, you cant be too trusting sometimes and its better to be over cautious about nothing to be honest xx

i definitely wouldn't meet him - if he is interested he can arrange to come and see the house when matt is around or someone else is around, the house isn't going anywhere!

Thing is he didn't give a time, just said he'd try and see if he could fit it in tomorrow so he'd give me a call. I don't really have any friends around, and family are all working. I've asked my aunty who said she might be able to. Otherwise if he calls and i can't get anyone i'll just have to say I can't do it.x

First thing in the morning I'm going to call and ask for a approx time and try to organise someone to come over. If I can't get anyone I'll just think of something to put him off till Matt's or someone can be around. Thanks for the replies, it's nice to know it's not just me being a paranoid freakxx

There should be laws like that here. The website this home swapping thing is through has a page about viewing safety so I'm following that |

I personally wouldn't be comfortable with that situation. When we sold our house a few months ago i did show people round without DH there but it was all done through the estate agents and they were all couples that came round. You are not being paranoid in the slightest, just being sensible and making sure you and Immi are safe x x x
