| We've just got a dishwasher for the first time (yey ) but there are so many different types of dishwasher tablets, and they talk about adding salt blah de blah and I'm a bit confused! Can anyone recommend some dishwasher tablets that aren't too pricey please, and any tips about looking after it please? Thank you xxx |

| I tend to get whatever are on offer, so its normally Finish or Fairy. We only got ours a couple of months ago too. The Finish one say that you dont need to add salt and rinse aid, but I still add it anyway xx |

| I used the 4in1 (lol 7in 1 I think too ) for a while and my dishwasher brokedown - the British Gas engineer said its really bad for them and that plain powder plus salt and rinse aid is much better
So now we use plain supermarket powder, add salt and rinse aid and its fine!
Also LOADS cheaper! |

| We use finish powerball all in 1 and I never add rinse aid or salt. We usually buy them when they on offer in Tesco (they have offers on dishwasher tablets nearly every month. We usually get a box of 45 BOGOF for £9.99 thats 90 tablets and does us 2-3 mths. I would recommend buying the dishwasher cleaning cartridges. Finish do them, they look like a small plastic box with blue liquid in them. http://www.finish.co.uk/dishwasher_enhancers/finish_dishwasher_cleaner.html You run the dishwasher empty with them in it and it cleans it. I think they recommend doing it once a month but I think iv only done it 3-4 times in the last 13mths! I couldnt cope without a dishwasher now, they're great! x |

We both hate washing up |

| I agree, the finish power balls are the best. If you ladies get hard water/calcium/lime deposits in your dishwasher after a period of time, I was told to use regular white vinegar. Just pour 1/2 cup in during a wash cycle every so often. xxx |

| Another thing is aswell to rinse the plates and cutlery before you put them into the machine as bits of food can clog up the pipe bits (and smell) My mum uses tesco value things (or whatever is on offer) and nothing else and has had hers for years with not 1 single break down she said that's down to the plates going in rinsed and every so often run it empty on the hottest setting with some bicarb of soda in the bit where you'd normally put the tab. |

| Some dishwashers come with a built in garborator(sp) you can leave bits on your plates and it will chew it all up and rinse it thru! Ours has one, but I have always gotten into the habit of rinsing everything before putting it in the dishwasher. They also make these incredible little sticky lemony scented things you can put in your dishwasher that make the whole house smell fresh. Gotta buy some more. xxx |
