absoloutly hate it when other people buy their kids clothes?! Dita got loads for her birthday and theres maybe 2 items i would have bought myself but the rest i wouldnt have looked twice at! I like my lo's to look a certain way, and it makes me feel me having them dressed how i like them so i absoloutly hate when ppl buy them piles of clothes! i just sorted through her 12-18 month stuff for when she's ready and theres maybe 2/3 that she will wear loads and the rest will be 'play' clothes. Tis such a waste of money, i know i'm just fussy but everybody who knows me knows that i dont like 'just anything' so why do it?!?! then wonder why she never wears em! grrr it makes me so mad lol, also it annoys me because yeah she has a pile of clothes, so oh will say 'she doesn't need anything' when i next buy an item of clothing, maybe she doesnt need them but i want her to look nice!! x

im gonna go against it here. i dont always like what people have given the kids but i appreciate the fact they tried to buy something that was usefull and not more noisy toys taking up more space. instead something practical i know every ones tastes is different. what happened to "its the thought that counts"

Lol I'm a bit like this. My family laugh at me, but i like to have Immi dressed a certain way. My mum said she's too scared to buy Immi anything without my approval. Around her birthday and this time of year i just drop hints to people that i'm particular about clothes and like what i dress her in. Luckily at her birthday, she seemed to only get a few clothes and they were all things I would have chosen. Laura don't get me wrong i totally appreciate anything Imogen is given, i just don't like the thought of people spending money on something I'm not going to use so I'd rather hint to them so they get the right kind of thing x

i'm the same, i always appreciate when people buy stuff but there's certain things I just hate, I can't bear winne the pooh or disney things but majority of people love them so people think they're doing the right thing.

What I really hate is when people knit you things! I had loads for Ollie my oh works in an old mans pub so all their wives were knitting and I absolutely hate wool, not as in I don't like the way it looks (i dont anyway) but the way it feels makes me cringe and completely goes through me, I would NEVER have been able to put it on him and they were all so intricate you could tell theyd spent ages on them but they were so pointless

I am grateful for clothes. My FIL & SMIL live near an asda and i love the clothes they pick from there, plus they go to the baby gap sales and get her nice stuff. Things that do bug me is... people buying wrong size eg people tend to buy a size bigger than age to be sure, so Caitlin has ended up a few times with clothes that fit at wrong season. My MIL is the worst for it, from day one she has been determined that Caitlin was going to be big for her age when actually she is pretty ave. For her bday in July I told her she needed pj's so she got summer weight short sleeve ones (that would have been great!) age 18-24mth. They are still big and will prob fit in feb/march when it freezing. I agree with olliemammy on the wool thing. Caitlin got a scratchy cardigan that would prob have fitted her at 9 mths when she was born, and while I appreciated the effort... she never wore it. There are times I look at her and think she isnt dressed in the style I would chose but it gives a bit of variety! In saying that she recently got sent a pale pink shiny nylon addidas 3 stripe tracksuit from canada... she looks like vicky pollard in it. Im not sure how often she will be out of the house in that!

I am really grateful for clothes as I can't afford to buy him them myself. I've been very naughty for xmas and have used my credit card way more times than I should buying him toys cos the poor wee soul is still playing with stuff for newborns cos most of his family forgot his birthday. We did the whole 'we won't buy him much cos everyone else will get him something too' and then he ended up with nothing I am making sure that doesn't happen again for xmas!

Haha that reminds me my mil bought all the grandkids matching tracksuits ages ago. They were hideous. Matt told her we hated it and bil and sil admitted they did too, i felt bad but we all managed to laugh about it in the end. The age thing winds me up too. When she was born I got loads of big things which was fine as Immi was a big baby but looking at her now she's fairly small I think (she's still in 3-6/6-9months trousers ) But people (that know how big she is) have still bought her massive things that will be pointless in the season when she's finally able to wear it. It annoys me cause there hasn't been much thought put into that. x

I really appreciate clothes! Some arent my taste but the in-laws always buy good quality like m&s, next or asda (i love asda clothes) What really gets my back up is that every time my in-laws come round (which is quite a bit).....they always bring Isla chocolate! They show it her, and when I say 'no no not till after dinner', they say to her 'Oh dear, mummy says you cant have it' so I get a screaming child.......and then they say 'arrrr youre cruel, just give it her'
