| Subject: should i let her cry? Sat Dec 18, 2010 1:18 am | |
| i at the end of my tether with ava the last few days , she was in a good routine with her naps and its gone out of the window. she never stops and is totally overtired but when i put her down in her cot she is throwing tantrums, kicking screaming, headbutting the bars. Ther's nothing wrong with her because as soon as i pick her up she stops and laughs, I've put her down now and she's totally hysterical, any advice please? |

| sorry to say it but this advice comes from a good friend of mine who has a daughter very similar (or was at ava's age), she used to end up pinning her down with her body until she fell asleep - it was the only way she would settle down, although i think she did that because she couldnt bare to let her cry/throw herself about. still at times now (just over 18 months) if she is over here, and overexcited, her mum ends up holding her down, but she falls asleep within 10 minutes now i think its sort of an extension of swaddling a very little baby - not sure if everyone would agree with it, but personally i would prefer that to letting elijah get so upset (im soft ) |

| exactly terri! Jo i've tried pick me up/put down but it doesn't work with her, I've been really patient and did it for nearly 2 hours one day but she doesn't calm down at all. I get a bit worried bacuse all of the babies at the local group i go to the same age seem to be so much calmer and just sit there playing happily, whereas she just can't sit still for 5 minutes, she's constantly on the move. |
