advice on unwell child _
PostSubject: advice on unwell child   advice on unwell child EmptyMon Dec 20, 2010 7:15 am

My youngest is 17 weeks old tomorrow, was 7 weeks prem so is 10 weeks corrected.

Today he hasn't seemed himself, seems to have a lot of saliva,so much that he keeps choking on it.He is constantly blowing bubbles and seemingly gargling.Every now and then he coughs as though some has gone down the wrong way.

He has no temp, and will feed if offered the breast but doesn't seem to be waking for it as he usually would,He;'s a bit snotty but i've seen him worse snot wise.He did a poo earlier and it reminded me of the teething nappies i used to get from my eldest.. stringy iykwim (sorry for tmi)

OH has had flu (is just getting over it) and our eldest has a chest infection which hes being treated for. They have both been ill for more than a week now.

Due to the snow and the fact we would have to wait at least 2 hours in a cold room full of sick people i'm not taking him to docs until tomorrow.

Any ideas onw hat i can do to make him more comfortable and what this might be?

I'm stumped!

Sounds like teething to me and he might be coming down with something. You could put something under his bedding to raise his head a bit to help him from coughing

Tbh it sounds like teething and maybe a cold.
I'd give him some calpol and see how he gets on.

thank you so much for the fast replies.. teething did cross my mind even though hes very young but he's not chomping or anything? i know they dont all have to show the same signs though.

I just worry about him so much because of him being prem and hes still so teeny!

i'm taking him docs tomorrow to make sure hes ok... any other ideas or suggestions are appreicated

will try the calpol but cant raise his mattress when we go to bed as we co sleep Surprised(

I know it seems early but Imogen had her 2teeth at 17wks.
I can't think of anything else to suggest apart from calpol. Hope he's ok.xx

Sounds like he has a bad cold hun. Offer him the boob alot the next few days..and the only thing u can really give him are the nose rinses and baby tylenol(caprol). Your immunity should help lessen the severity. xxx
