Any way....how much do you give them? £5? £10? Or a gift voucher or chocs??

I've never done it before but was seriously thinking about it this year. I have done practically all my christmas shopping online this year and we must have had at least 4-5 parcel delivered each week for the last few months Embarassed (some huge) and they have all had such a tough time recently with the weather and our guys have really worked hard from what I've seen.

However we have about 5 or 6 different ones that come here so I don't know what to do - just tip one (the one that comes xmas eve)? buy a big tin of chocs and drop off at delivery office? Tipping the Postie 548646

Jo/Susan - what would Adam/Simon think?

Yeah thats a thoughie Debs, Simon has been doing his round for a good 8 years and is rarely off (only for holidays) so his 'customers' know him really well and because he literallty runs around they see how hard he works. Erm I think the box of chocs idea is brilliant but I think I would hand it to whoever comes on xmas eve as if its a big delivery office they wouldnt go very far. Oh and Simon is always chuffed with chocs - he got a bottle of wine the other day but neither of us drink (I dont even when not pregnant) so he's going to give it to someone else. xxx

Aww bless him Jo - well you can tell him from me (and Simon, Susan) that he is doing a brilliant job. The weather is so god damn awful (particularly near you Jo) and temperatures are awfully low - where would christmas be without the posties? We all like to have a little moan about the royal mail when a parcel is late or lost but lets face it they do an amazing job, it still amazes me that you can post a letter 1st class at the top of Scotland and it will arrive the next day in Cornwall (under normal circumstances). They do a great job and with the huge backlog at the moment they seem to be working their socks off to clear it in time for Christmas - you already told me Adam went in to help during his holidays so cheers cheers cheers for Adam and Simon and all the other posties out there up to their knees in snow and freezing their wotsits off to get me my cheap superdrug products in time for Christmas! I've never really tipped the postman before, but this year I was thinking the same. For the past 6mth now we've had a new one and although he comes across a right missery sometimes, he's done good trudging through the snow recently and getting lots of parcels to my door, especially all Olivers party goods which arrived bang-on time even though we had a foot of snow out there Shocked

I wanted to get him some choccies, but then I was worried that it'd be extra weight he has to carry till he finishes Rolling Eyes scratch
Then I have the dilemma that he doesn't actually post to my door, my post box is on my 7ft gates so don't even know when he's been Suspect
