| My granda recovering from lung op atm & while carers come in to shower/dress him my mum & auntie are having to do the rest. Its quite hard when they both work too. A few things my mum is having to do atm... -Ironing/washing clothes -Preparation of meals... even home cooked meals frozen and put in containers delivered to be microwaved... you may need food hygiene for that though The elderly/ill/new parents might like that help. -Changing of bed/laundering sheets/towels -Dusting -Cleaning shower My MIL is a self employed cleaner & she does... -Ironing (Usually in clients home as she doesnt drive) -Hoovering -Dusting -Mopping floors -Cleaning upholstery/shampooing rugs (with 1001 etc not professional cleaning) -Washing windows/outside doors -Cleaning oven -Cleaning bathroom -Polishing silverware/brass etc I cant think... Id love some one to clear/organise/de clutter my cupboards but thats probably only a job I can do as you wouldnt know what I needed. Um weeding in summer? Grass cutting? Maybe thats more of a gardener thing though. Going shopping for someone? Either a weekly shop or ensuring on the days you clean if they require you to you bring a bag of groceries eg You work for an 2 hrs cleaning while they at work and when they come home they have a clean house plus milk in fridge and things for dinner in? I prob am being daft! |

| Garden tidying and lawn mowing? Maybe taking elderly people to the supermarket for their shopping (my nanna has a lady who does this sometimes for her - she could just get it for her but my nanna likes the trip out) With elderly/disabled people in mind you could offer to do the 'big' jobs they struggle with - changing bed linen, internal window cleaning, hoovering stairs, taking down - washing - putting back up curtains/nets. Just a few of the jobs my nan struggles with now. Personally I would love someone like yourself to babysit for me on an adhoc basis (a night out now and then would be nice - lol) as I don't have any close friends or family close by I would feel reasured leaving them with an 'experienced mum' but would you need any training/checks/qualifications to advertise this? Dog walking? xx |

| Ohh well done!
Are you employing people or will you be doing it yourself?
Cos if you are employing people then you could put stuff like decorating, gardening, lawn mowing, as well as all the other usual cleaning things
P.S everything cleaning mentioned above by the other ladies is usually covered by a domestic cleaner (i know i do it now lol) so although it is good to offer that I think what most old folk find it hard to get people to do is the odd job things like taking them shopping, sorting the garage out, mowing the lawn |

| Are things like company, writing letters for them, having a cuppa, going on shopping trips, taking them out for the day an option? Or maybe just be in your blurb / mission statement? Of if it's house bound people it's a funny area as you get into mobility and being trained / insured for helping to lift people maybe Sorry just thinking out loud! Was reading this as didn't you have an interview recently - though it was about that - how'd it go? |
