Have started trying lumpy food ie jars but he hates it, but will eat finger food ie rice cakes, bits of cheese sandwich, chicken. Doesnt really seem to like the spoon feeding unless its cereal, yogurt or fruit puree. I dont think lumps are the issue or he wouldnt eat a rice cake?? I think its lumps in sauce/ spoon feeding. So i can give him bits of proper food but doesnt seem like he is having much. What do you think? He still drinks plenty of milk and has water at dinner and tea x

i would just stick with the finger food, i only spoon feed ava yoghurt and her porridge, everything else is finger food now. As long as he's gaining weight and having his milk he'll be fine.

one thing i tried today that worked well (cos elijah is getting more and more irritated at being fed!) was cooking some normal porridge - just oats and whole milk - but making it quite thick, then letting it cool and cutting it into lumps, elijah could pick it up and smoosh it and managed to eat it, maybe that is a nice in-between for now? we also did pasta and he liked that better than jarred foods...you can get little pasta stars which were ok, but i think in future i will just do penne so he can pick it up by himself that way you can get veg and carbs into him. if lewis will take lots of finger foods you could probably give him just as much nutrition (fruit, veg, boiled eggs, cheese, pasta, bread etc) as he would be getting from jars we are managing with a combination just now but leaning more towards finger foods because elijah just seems to prefer that

Thanks girls. I fed him some chicken yesterday, small pieces and he managed fine. He had a pot of puree today mixed with some pasta stars and ate it. I think he prefers tomato based sauces tbh. I also gave him bits of a cheese sandwich. He has just scoffed a big bowl of banana porridge!. Hes a funny boy. May try scrambled egg tomm x

scarambled egg goes down really well, i also find omelette is a great finger food as well cut into strips so its easy to hold, you can throw in a few cooked veg too.

Scranbled egg is really nice mixed with chopped tomato and a bit of cinamon, it sweetens it up and makes it a bit more juicy. Sophia loves it! Or a bit of cheese mixed in. MAndy xx
