| why do you always feel so guilty? I have only been at this job about 11/12 weeks and i've had to ring in sick twice! first time i had a sickness bug and today i have a cold, but a bad tummy with it and i keep loosing my breath so cant be running up and down stairs all night! i rang in sick and they were really llike 'oh, well when will u be back, i guess i will try and find cover' =o| i feel so guilty about it, but i work in care and if i have got flu or something i could bloomin kill some of the poor old folk off in i went in! x |

I think you did exactly the right thing phoning in hun, like you say if you went in then you would put more vulnerable people at risk of catching what you have. If they dont like it then stuff em I say xx

I think everybody feels the same. I have been so ill before with a chest infection and you could clearly hear it, but I still felt bad. I had to go home once because I had a really bad case of flu and I still felt bad, even though they could clearly see I was really poorly. I also found that I used to get a stern response when I called in sick from my boss. Luckily, she left and I ended up getting her job so I didnt have to worry about it after that. x

It's gets me mad when your sick and you feel guilty for ringing in sick. You could pass it on then other people will get it and be off. X

For many reasons, bad bosses / management usually = staff feel guilt when needing time off... in my experience anyway! Anyhoo, hope you feel better and -any other calls to work- I'm pretty sure is legally an OH job xx

I hate this, they are the same at my work. One of the receptionists rang in as her dog had a tumor and was dying and needed emergancy treament, and the manager said "Well its just a dog, why do you need the day off?".... I'm not much of a dog person but even I thought that was pretty heartless xx

Oh I am the odd one out...I don't feel guilty at all. If I am sick enough to be off work then that is just the way it is.
