my mil and her oh came up for tea on friday now we dont visit them often and she never visits us unless she is invited for tea!! when they came up they brought evan a small bag of milky stars and brought ohs older son who wasnt even at our house a big bag of haribo sweets and a big bar of galaxy, now i dont care bout evan gettin sweets cos im not big on him having sweets anyway but i found this a bit unfair but didnt say anything as evan doesnt even understand
when they were here they were goin outside for a smoke so took evan out in the garden and played outside with him for a bit and with the dog!
later my oh mentioned that he was going away to ireland for a wkend soon and if we cud get a sitter i wud go to and she said well why dont u ask me to take him and i said well to be honest last time u babysat for 2hours u said all evan done was cry (evan is strange at the best of times and usually only my parents or my sil can babysit) and she said yeah but he wud be fine and i said i wudnt feel right leaving him knowing he wud be upset to which she agreed
then bout 20 mins later (they had been at our house bout 2 n half hours by now) she said u know i think this is the longest ive spent playin with evan and i laughed and said yeah shocking consider he is a year n half and ur supposed to be his gran! i wasnt being nasty or anything but she makes it obvious out of all her grandkids (there is at least 10) ohs older son is her favourite this has always been the case and i always said i wudnt allow her to treat evan different to how she treated his older son!
although oh did live with his mum for a few years so she his son was stayin there on the nights he had him so i understand why she has a close bond with him but she makes no effort to see any of the other grandkids
she then invited herself to my house every tues night after her weight watchers class she is away to start for a coffee and oh said he plays pool on a tues and she said yeah but michelle with be in mayb its jst me but i found this cheeky i do have a life to and even if im in i wud be busy cleaning or gettin evan settled or jst relaxin having time to myself!
now in a way i think its good cos she will get to spend time with evan and hopefully he wont be so strange with her but at the same time i jst thought it was really cheeky to invite herself knowing it wud jst be me here!

Yep it is cheeky! Would be different if she had said she would call you and see if you wanted her to come that night - not just assume every week she can come that day

I would tell her that you have a friend popping over the first week she asks... then think of something else the second week.

thats cheeky but i know how you feel about favroutes Marcs mum and Dad favour ceejay over all the others to the extent that even in front of every one they will give ceejay £5 and all the others including Liam who is the same age as him £3 it really riles me in a big way, also he gets something every week even if its a bag of sweets all the others get is a small bag of chocolate buttons or something every other month
