| How much is too much? Caitlin has became obsessed with wee oranges. She is constantly running to kitchen and pointing at fruit bowl shouting 'yea, yea, yea'. I usually give her toast and either a pear or apple for brekky. After lunch she usually gets a sml orange and box of raisins. Again after dinner she may get another 2 sml oranges or a banana. So on average she gets 2 large pieces of fruit (apple, banana or pear), box of raisins & 2-3 clemintines/satsumas. She would eat more fruit if I let her but im worried about letting her eat too much - especially oranges. Yesterday she pooped 3 times and recently I have found her going twice a day on avereage and its always very soft (not runny though.) She doesnt eat much veg though, while she does enjoy it she only really has it with her evening meal eg carrots & peas etc How much does your LO eat? Do you worry? |

| Taylas not really an orange fan more bananas and blueberries are her favs! Some fruits have so much sugar in them that it can be bad for their teeth to eat so much. I would personally say the amount of fruit sounds ok maybe just try and cut down on the oranges? Taylas has banana with her brekkie (not everyday lol) blueberries and strawberries with lunch and say a apple or pear for pudding. She also had veggies usually just with her dinner. |

| Too many oranges aren't great as they can damage the teeth quite easily - Dans little bro had stained milk teeth, although it was cos the enamel came off as his granny gave him an orange every day!
Izzy has at least 1 large banana a day, then either an apple/pear/tangerine
I'd really try to reduce the oranges, however Bupa say this 'You can help to protect your child's teeth against erosion by finishing a meal with an alkaline food such as milk or cheese. This will neutralise the acid in your child's mouth.' which may put your mind at ease when she does have them!
BUT dont brush teeth straight after acidic foods as this will damage them!

| Thanks for that lisa. Will try and wean her off. Bought blueberries in Tesco and they were a MASSIVE hit. She pulled them out of bag and was eating them in the trolley going across carpark and had a fit when we took them off her to put her in car (I was feeling a bit ick that they wernt washed but dont think will do too much harm!) Got passionfruit too but now im thinking it may be acidic like oranges? Im not great at giving Caitlin dairy after meals lisa, she gets a youghurt/petis filous after dinner 4-5 nights a week if that counts, but then thats sweet? Because of previous milk allergy her diet is still quite restricted in that field eg special formula milk morning and evening, ordinary butter on toast/sandwhiches, normal youghurts and in pastry, breads biscuits. But she hasnt had cheese yet, bought her babybel today to test her with over the weekend. A cup of cows milk she still reacts too. Will keep those ideas in mind for the future though. |
