| Libby woke me up at half 12 last night after she had been sick all over her and her bedding, so got her changed, clean bedding etc and she went off to sleep again. She woke up another couple of times but she had nothing left to bring up This morning shes had a drink but didn't want any food and brought that up again, shes never been like this before, is there anything I should be doing? should I hold off a bit before taking her to the docs? She has had a tiny bit of dry cereal, is this ok? sorry loads of questions. xxx |

| Just keep getting fluid in her, and if she starts to look dehydrated (dry lips, mouth, etc) give her some dyralite which will rehydrate her.
You may find that she gets some pretty awful nappies in the next few days too x

| Any chemist does it. Its just a powder that you put in their drink.
I also found that Aimee preferred to drink through a straw when she was poorly like that.
Oh, and also when she is up to eating, maybe go with the BRAT (banana, rice, applesauce and toast) diet for a day or two x

| I agree with the other ladies, the docs wont do anything other than prescribe dialytes - try to get the flavoured ones (blackcurrant , citrus etc) as the plain one tastes horrible! |

| hiya, my son had the same type of thing when he was about 4 months old or so, it was really scary because he was so small, it turned out that he caught a sickness bug that was going around..the doc just told me to get dioralyte and keep his fluid intake up.. she also told me to avoid giving him milk because he would only bring it up again. Hope this passes for you soon, I know it's not very nice at all xx |

| Thanks everyone.
Well she's been so quiet all day, she hasn't moved hardly (which really is not like her at all!!), she was last sick this morning at about 9ish, hasn't eaten anything all day but she has had a good 7 or 8 cups of weak squash so at least she's getting fluids. She went to bed at half 5 so I'm really hoping she'll wake up to her normal happy self tomorrow.
Thanks again. xxx |

| Glad shes keeping a bit down now. If she doesnt a hint is to give 5-10mls every 5 mins. Literally let her have a swallow of the dioralyte then take it away for a few mins. She will protest but its the most effective way of keeping fluids in a kid. When their stomach is so irritated from vomiting and they scarf down a whole beaker of juice cos they are feeling dry it automatically contracts and brings it back up again. By using tiny amounts often its not enough to irritate the stomach and gradually gets it in. |
