OH was looking at the school we are planning to send Wil to last night and it is amazing

http://www.kimbolton.cambs.sch.uk

The scary bit is he will go for his initial assessment in less than 2 years (October 2012) affraid

We have been keen to send him here for senior school but we are now toying with sending him here when he is 4 because it looks so good.
The decision will be taken out of our hands if he doesn't get a place at the school near his childminder's house because we need her to do the school run because we both work full time (we are outside the catchment area for her local school).

I am torn because this school looks really good but he loves his childminder and she loves him so they would both be gutted if he stopped going to her although I would want her to have him in the holidays.

The additional dilemma is that this school offers places in March and he won't know which state school he is allocated until May so we would have to accept a place at the private school and pay the deposit (£500) in case he doesn't get into the state school.

(I love the little uniforms too schools 270211 too cute)

love it, it looks great.

If it's a private school you want then I'd send him from as early as possible.

Where I live the two (high schools) state schools are really good but I'm not keen on any of the primary schools. There is a really nice private school quite close that start at kindergarden stage. We have contacted them and have all the details but oh against private education/healthcare so as of yet is still refusing.

They start at reception, so age 4, and a huge part of me says if he doesn't go until later he will be behind when he gets there and friendships will have been formed.

If he goes at 4 either he will have to go to the before and after school club or OH and I will have to mess about with our hours so we can do pick up and drop off (we work for the same company and they are really flexible). They are not allowed to go on the school bus without an older pupil to look after them until they are 7. (there is a bus that picks up and drops off outside his childminder's house)

I really hope you manage to talk your OH round

It looks great, I think if your dead set on sending him to private school the earlier the better because it will be easier settling him in now rather than sending him to a different secondary schoold than all his friends are going to.

Have you spoken to the school about the bus situation? Perhaps theycould get one of the older kids to kep an eye on him for you x

That could work if I could find a willing chaperone. I think Wil will soon get the hang of the bus and the bus stop is outside his childminder's house so she can put him on the bus and collect him from it.
