Ok, so I have around 88 days to go until my due date and im am absolutely pooping myself about labour.... What if the pain is too much?? What if I can't push her out?? The hospital is a half hour drive away, what if we don't get there in time?? Also I am absolutely dreading the post labour shower...how on earth am I going to stand to have a shower after just pushing a baby into the world?? God I sound like a right nutcase...but yeah you get the gist I am absolutely crapping myself about labour xx

like the other ladies said, you will just go with the flow when it happens - before i got induced i had to have a word with myself remember that your body is designed to do all of this stuff - for me it was my brain that took a few weeks to catch up, but my body just got on with it you will amaze yourself with what you can manage, and hospitals/most midwives are experienced enough to know when someone has really had enough, or if they just think they have my after labour shower was ok, it was hard work standing up but there was a seat and they didn't rush me or anything, it felt great to freshen up and get my head together - you just don't know what the day will bring but you if you set out with a bit of an open mind and feel confident (as much as possible!) that your body knows best, you will be absolutely fine and really...as a side note, by 40 weeks the thought of staying pregnant forever will be less enjoyable than the idea of labour i expect

I agree with the ladies, your body will know what to do. There's a few things for pain e.g gas and air, pethidine, epidural. Also agree with Mari, the MW will know exactly what to do and will be monitoring you and bubs the whole time so you will be in good hands. Try and practice breathing techniques as your breathing will help you stay calm and push more effectively. Remember some people panic when in pain because our brains tell us that pain is bad i.e something is wrong but labour pain is natural and not "bad" pain, it's "good" pain, if you get what I mean Read all the books you can to prepare yourself for the whole process from first twinge to bubs popping out x

Just to add, the most important thing to do. When the day comes and you get to hospital, you leave your "dignity" at the front desk on the way in and you pick it up on the way out x

^ oooh yeah, that's true too, the pushing is kind of the final bit and you know it is nearly over and baby is nearly there it's actually not as painful as the general contractions bit, once you have pushed her out all the pain is gone (although a bit of bruising etc but that doesn't seem to appear til a couple of days later!)
