Advice Needed - Grandparents! _
PostSubject: Advice Needed - Grandparents!   Advice Needed - Grandparents! EmptyThu Sep 02, 2010 3:28 am

Some of you may remember that my mum doesnt have her feet firmly on the ground when it comes to sanity... (like trying to cut her wrists at my wedding, etc).

Anyway, she is on anti D's now and all seems cool. She has Aimee 3 mornings a week while I am at work and it is good, 99% of the time. (She lives right near my work)

But, when I start maternity leave I will be having Aimee myself. Its not practical to take her there all the time as she lives across town and its an hour round trip.

Anyway, this week was bank hol Monday so she didnt have her, and I am off tomorrow, so she isnt having her either. She seems to have got a bit of a sulk on over it and now wants her at the weekend at some point.

I am worried that when my mat leave starts she is going to turn all crazy again. She comes across as very 'needy' where Aimee is concerned.

If she does go down that road, then she wont get near Aimee at all, but I can see the signs already and am getting a bit worried Neutral

It sounds like it's time for a sit down chat to set her expectations now. Maybe she could come over and see you all 1 day a week? That way she still gets some time with Aimee but you don't have to trudge all the way over there? Might give you a little break too? x

I did sit her down and tell her that she wont be having Aimee and that sometimes we will pop over there and she can come to soft play, etc. (to soften the blow).

She doesnt drive and also has to be at work for 12 o'clock every day, so is pretty restricted as to what she can do.

She is great with Aimee, but I am just seeing little signs in her which makes me think that she is going to go off the rails again.

is there any chance that because things have been going so well that she thinks maybe she does not need her meds anymore and is not taking them or restricting her amount ??

I dont think so. She had her check up a couple of weeks ago and she said that they have lowered the dose, but tbh, I dont know whether to believe that as she lied last year and told me she was off them totally.

She is also going to see my brother in LA just before I start my mat leave, and that always sends her on a downward spiral too.
