| I think legally its whatever comes first eg if a 8month old is huge thats fine. However its to do with neck/muscle control (well for facing forward anyway) so if you can leave it til 9 months its better/safer. I could be talking poo though. I think thats the answer I got on AB when asked the same question x |

| Yeah I think it's whichever comes first but personally I will wait until 9 months anyway. Hannah was 22lb (10kg) at 7 months and although she is a big un she just seems too little to be in a big chair like Thomas . She is 75th centile for height but her head is still well below the top of her infant carrier so she can face backwards for another month yet. I have just read so many horror stories about people moving to forward facing too soon (stupidly soon but it's made me paranoid ) that I am happy to let her face backwards until it is no longer safe for her to do so. Her infant carrier is suitable up to 29lb so she is fine. I dont want my baby to be a big girl xx |

| I know what you mean Debs! Jess is a big girl too, and in her maxi-cosi she has already got her feet on the back on the seat, and doesnt like being in that position at all. She wants to be up now. TBH though I havent had her weighed in a while, so will see where shes upto.....but shes not going in next size up for a good while yet. I was just really confused about it all, and wanted to be prepared for when she needs one. |

| In halfords they said weight and head control were the important factors. They told us to worry about legs sticking out of the maxicosi as it will much safer than front facing seats if she's not ready. |

| Like others have said its to do with strength. C only hit 9kg about 2 months ago so if id waited for her to get to weight she would have still been backwards facing at 19 months but by 9 months she was 7kg but had strong neck and back muscles so i moved her about 10 months i think. |

| Wil moved to front facing at 7 months because he was nearly 10kg and his fat little bum wouldn't fit in the seat any more. He was hanging out both ends of the maxi cosi too.
(he has always been sturdy) |
