Just seen this, I personally think it's an amazing thing for the mother to do. I know it's a bit controversial but to be so nasty and cruel is awful

Some people are just so, so horrid aren't they? I think the thing the mother is doing is amazing, she is giving a gift for her child so if her child wants her own children then there is a chance for her because by the time that time comes the mum will be classed as "too old" to donate her eggs which would then mean the daughter herself would have to go through lots of things (surrogacy or adoption) which would take a very long time. So what if the child becomes deaf? There are deaf parents out there doing a bloody fantastic job.

I'm sure I heard about Hearing Dogs for the deaf that alerts the mum to a crying child, the dog has been taught to respond to that crying child in the same way it would respond to the door bell or the telephone ringing (deaf people use a special type of telephone)

That is only my opinion though xxxxxxxxx

I saw this on the news a few weeks ago, how dare people be so quick to judge The daughter might not want the eggs when she's older but at least she has an option x

i can honestly say i admire her for it what a lovely thing to do for your daughter if she cant have her own and she is young enough to do it but old enough to know what she is doing

Lita's right, its not like they HAVE to be used and a pregnancy is being forced upon anyone. I think its a great thing that she is doing and if I found out Caitlin was infertile at birth its probably something i would have at least thought about/looked into donor options. I think its normal to think about what your child might miss out on and try and 'fix' it if you can. I think she is being a good mother and doesnt deserve the abuse.

One of my best friends was brought up alone by her mum who is deaf. They had a doorbell that made the lights flash, as did when phone rang(type talk), I think when my friend was little again sensors could make lights flash when she cried etc. Her mum works full time as an arts manager, drives a car and is now remarried. My friend speaks perfectly normal, has a degree and is married with a child herself. Being brought up by a deaf parent hasnt harmed her.

Some people cant see past the end of their own noses! As if anyone on here would directly be abusive to a baby/child because of what their parents have said on a forum. Iv never heard of that forum but hope they banned the people who were so nasty. Just show too though how 'arguements' on here/AB have the potential to spill out into media so people should watch what they say perhaps.

I agree its lovely what she is planning to do, I dont think the fact the child would be her half sister should make any difference, an egg is an egg and if it ever happened the girl would never see the baby as a half sister!

Unfortunately there are very nasty people in this world and someone will always have a nasty opinion about everything.

But good for the mum I think its a lovely idea and one which her little girl will no doubt be so so grateful for when she is older.

My little girl i lost at 18 weeks was due to turners syndrome (what that little girl has) and I will say right now I would totally do exactly the same!!!

Omg some people need a good slap. What an amazing thing this mum is doing for her daughter and yet she is being abused because of it.

It's horrific to think that there are still such narrow minded and pure heartless people out there. Those who bought looks and the other children into were clearly not interested in the story and were just being pricks for the sake of it.

That mother has given her daughter a future option should she wish to choose it. And I'd do it too
