They always suggested that E45 and another which name I've forgotten oh oilatum and doublebase does nought!! - Lewis has really bad eczema and is allergic to all of them ...
Niccsy try Aveeno cream from boots - my doc wouldn't prescribe it but works fantastically it's about £5 for large tube. Depending how bad her skin is , also porridge oats tied into a sock and dropped in bath, try and run tap through bath goes milky. Lewis has a porridge bath once a month more if skin flares up His tends to get infected really quickly Sad

Yeah i do the porridge thing with dita when she gets really bad!
She generally doesnt have it that bad except for her red and dry cheeks (face lol) but she has it in the form of a rash down her thighs and up her back
now and again, she hasn't been 'diagnosed' with it so hopefully they will put it on record tomoro so i can maybe get a couple of things to try! It all costs so much, dont mean to sound tight and i would buy it if needed but that oilatum bath stuff is £5 for a little bottle!
ty i will try the aveeno stuff!

we were told to use e45 cos eli gets really sore dribble rash on his chest/chin but it obviously hurts more cos if i put it on he screams. it also makes contact dermatitis on me painful and worse so i use swedish formula on my hands and vaseline on elijah which seems to clear it up/protect it

I use Epiderm with MJ and you can use it as a soap too. I've always got my hands in water or bleach so when they get dry or sore I use that instead of saop and it makes my hands all lovely again. I have also always used Aqueous cream on MJ and it helped her and I use Oilatum which works for me, I have to have the special Lanolin free one as Lanolin makes me itchy. Oilatum also do a shower gel.

When I was pregnant Oilatum did nothing for my itchy skin though so the Dr at the hospital gave me a huge industrial sized pump action bottle of E45 from the hospital pharmacy and I love E45, feels a bit greasy but it did the job on an itchy bump xxxxxxxx

The thing with Aqueous Cream that has recently come out is that.....in excessive use, it can cause thinning of the skin.

So basically, skin sheds layers easier when using it.

Its not harmful, because theres nowt in it that would cause harm, so dont panic if youve got some and like using it after a bath etc etc. But say you are using it 4 times a day, then maybe try a different one.

But really it is just a very basic oil and water mix, which most creams and ointments are (and lots lots more ingredients), so im sure that this one is a precaution only.

Hope this helps xx

Hmm, I've been using aqueous cream on me and little man for ages now, we use it as a soap rather than a cream as I heard that was they way it was supposed to be used and that using it as a cream can do more harm than good. scratch Its been fine with us. Admittedly neither of us have eczema but lil' man does get dry patches on his cheeks and back.

I used both Epaderm and Aqueous cream with Harry when he was a couple of months as his skin flared up really badly, all his hair fell out and he had really bad cradle cap and spots, but neither of them did anything so I run let it run its course and after 2 months it was back to normal and his hair started growing again this time a lovely golden blonde colour and his skin is perfect now, I was told to use both these creams and they only seemed to make it worse scratch

its absoloutly fine to use as a soap zee, well the doc said its fine to use as a soap.
I was told it was an irritant to a bubbas skin, i dont know about the thinning, the steroid cream dita was given has a side effect of possible thinning skin x
