True, but I hate the way SW's etc sometimes get the blame in comments before the parent does! I dont know all the details of the case but some parents can pull the wool over SWs eyes very easily, and SWs arent psychic. Even with regular SW input & co-operation with addiction teams she still may have gone on a bender and left him infront of fire I hope all involved have learnt lessons and it never happens again... sadly we all know thats not likely. A very sad story, poor lil lamb |

| how bloody awful!!! If the child was known to have a drunkard for a mother he should've been taken away. 27 months in prison!! That is no punishment for something that should never have happened!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| I agree mummy2amiracle the social system should be to blame until they are given more powers to actualyl remove children from these environments. If they knew she abused alcohol - no matter to what extent, if she has a problem the child should have been taken away until the mother was in a capable state to look after him. If they did that all the time rather than just monitoring families maybe there would be a lot less of this kind of heartbreaking news. the poor little boy |

| OMG did she only get 27months???? The problem for SS alot of the time is where to put the removed children. Childrens homes are full and not enough people foster. The process to become a foster carer is ridiculously long and strict. More people need to do it, but with little or no money for looking after sometimes very hurt/emotional children most are put off. |
