| Hubby and I have completely knackered our bed (it was half dead anyways) and luckily we have some money in our savers so we can buy a new one (saving up for a rainy day and all that) Does anyone know where we can get one from? Have looked at Argos and Homebase but was hoping for some other ideas/websites (I know some buy direct places are cheaper). We're looking at really cheap (less than £200, as we've only got £160 but could get the bit extra together next week when I get paid)
Would ideally like a wooden bed, a dark wood preferably as I've never had a good experience with metal beds.
Thank-you in advance.

my hubby got a great leather effect bed which springs up so you can have loads of storage underneath - it was 170£ and a good kingsize with free delivery. it's really sturdy as our mattress weighs an absolute ton (as do i ) it was from a place on ebay, i will get him to see if he can find it again later if you like

That is the exact type of bed I was after, thank-you Mari. I thought those ones would be way out of our price range as they do look so posh, and it would free up space in the airing cupboard as I can keep spare blankets/pillows under it (or crap pmsl) My dream is to one day own a bed with a tv that comes out of the footboard the thing is they cost grandage AND you have to buy the tv separate and how would it work with plugging it in and getting the aerial lead in lol xxxxx

hahaha bless, yeah i think my hubby quite liked the idea of some kind of mechanical tinkering that he could do with a spring loaded bed! it is really good though, makes it easier to dig stuff out

The reason I didn't consider Ikea was that their sizes are different to ours so would also have to get a mattress from there and their fitted sheets from there too. Thank-you for the idea Gill but I personally think Ikea is a false economy, our nearest one is in Croydon so if ever I wanted some new sheets for it we'd have to hire a car whereas buying new sheets from Asda or Argos would be free to collect as we can walk there. xxx
