bradens always drank a lot, about 2 cups of milk and 6-10 cups of diluted juice a day, we have switched him completely to normal beakers now and he is not drinking so much, maybe about 4 cups a day, but he wakes up around 3 times a night crying his eyes out for a drink, we give him a cup of water and he literally downs it, even tho he would never drink water! Also cos we have been potty training it has become apparent that he needs to wee every 30-45 minutes! Isnt this way too much? x

That does sound like quite a lot and personally would get him check as it is a sign of diabetes. Does he eat much salty food as that can make u thirsty? Would he be the same if its just plain water all day?

Maybe he's not drinking much as its not 'easy' like it used to be..if he's drinking out of a proppa beaker it takes more concentration so may not be drinking so readily. How longs he been drinking out of a beaker? Maybe just adjusting to it? As for weeing a lot, that sounds about right.

That sounds loads to drink !!! Caitlin drinks about 12oz milk between her morning and bedtime btls, gets a sml beaker of water for mid morning/lunch and seriously im lucky if she drinks 1/3 - 1/2 of it. In afternoon iv started giving her a fruitshoot as its the only thing i can guantee she will drink most of, then at dinner evening she gets another sml beaker of water and prob only takes about a 1/3 of it. Iv tried adding a splash of juice to water and it makes no odds. Caitlin needs to be reminded to drink. I honestly could get away with changing her 3 times a day eg morning, 2pm and 7pm. Her nappys do get quite wet but rareky full and heavy unless its been 4-5hrs. I worry for opposite reasons to you. In saying that her cousin drinks 4 huge beakers of juice a day and is always asking for more and she is healthy. Some kids just seem to drink more than others. Has he always drank so much/woke in the night? Diabetes is rare in children under 2 but I think then between 2-5yrs is when most kids with type 1 get diagnosed. He may just be a thirsty boy. Maybe mention it to dr to be sure. Is he eating ok? Some LO's confuse thirst and hunger and end up filling themselves up with juice and not eating.

he has always drank a lot yes, but he never used to wake up through the night until we switched him to a beaker and he isnt getting as much fluids. As for eating, he eats like a horse so i dont think thats a concern lol! He doesn't really eat many salty foods, maybe once a week when we have a takeaway he would prob get a little more salt then he should! ah the weeing every 30 mins is normal zee?!?!?! god im gna be fit running upstairs all the time lol! Ty for replies, i will mention it next time to see what happens but im sure he is prob just a thirsty boy! x

| It seems alot of drink and loads of wee to me
Izzy has 3 or 4 wet nappies in a day (but of course she may have weed twice or whatever if I don't notice its wet the first time) and her night time one is soaking even if she doesn't have a drink right before bed , when I had her nappy off yesterday she was going at least 90 minutes without weeing
She drinks about 4-5 beakers of juice a day, plus milk with her cereal - so of course he drinks way more so will wee more
I would get him checked just to be sure

Jack is the same, drinks loads and wee's about 2-3 times an hour. His wee's are short though so maybe they are still to young to hold it for longer like us. If hes anything like Jack who's on the go, running around all day they are bound to get thirsty. As for the waking at night, i agree with Zee the cup may be harder so he's not wanting as much during the day, hench waking up thirsty.

Braden is drinking approximately the same amount as Wil if they are using similar size beakers. Wil uses a 400ml cup (one of the 360 degree ones) Wil's nappy is fit to burst after about 2 hours so he has probably done a good few wees in it. I think the time between wees is probably due to the size of their bladders and their ability to hold it. We were concerned about Wil last summer so the docs checked him and he is fine. It is good to drink a lot and I can easily drink 3 litres of water in a day. Yes I do have to pee a lot

Yer, Oliver drinks loads too..I mean loads and in all other respects he is healthy. He does still dribble but I think thats due to enlarged adinoids. so I do try and keep his fluids up too. He is super active too - he only ever stops when he's sleeping. But then my friends LO only drinks about 3 x TT beakers all day (if that) suppose they are all different Oliver is getting longer between pee's as the day's go on..he seems to be able to hold it for a while now. Sometimes he goes 2/3 times in 1hr, but then can hold it for 2/3hrs when were out.
