| SMIL's daughter got married on the sly in NY this week. SMIL & FIL are really generous with us as is this girl, who has a daughter 5mths older than Caitlin. She gave us loads of clothes when Caitlin was teeny and though we dont see eachother often Caitlin see's her daughter 1-2 a month and are being brought up as cousins . Want to get her a nice wedding present though not too dear eg £30? No idea what to get her as her & hubby have been together 8 years or so and bought their own house years ago which is decorated lovely. They clearly have everything housy that they need, and im guessing most people will buy albums, frames, candles etc... Any ideas what to get? If you were getting married in that situation what would you like? I am thinking Next vouchers/£££ but would prefer to get a gift if possible. Have tried searching ebay but my internet so slow its impossible. All suggestions welcome! |

| Cash!
I know to some people it's a weird thing to give cash as a gift but when you have lived together and have a family you pretty much have everything you need or want. We are getting married in September and having lived together nearly 4 years we seriously just don't have space for more 'gifts'. The things we do need are the big stuff like new carpets, windows etc so we are asking for cash.
Personally what I would really appreciate is a token gift - maybe something personalised with our wedding date etc or even just a really thoughful card or poem that means something then a bit of money towards our honeymoon or house.
Sorry if that's not much help hun.

| No that is helpful, id prefer people to say if they would want cash ! Me and stuarts situation is dif as atm we are in furnished private rental so if we did get married quite quick in the near future housy things would still be welcome... though yes £££ towards big electrical items, carpets etc would be fantastic too! I like the idea of getting a personalised thing to go with cash. The only thing I can think of is a hand painted plate, we got one when got engaged with names and date that is quite humorous looking, though saying that it is still wrapped in bubblewrap in a drawer so more of a keepsake.... |

| To celebrate our wedding you may wish to buy us presents However this is not required, all we want is your presence
If you still feel the need, to get us a small token, We would appreciate vouchers for any shop that’s open
Regardless of which choice you make, all we would like to say, is come along and have some fun, on this our special day.
thats what i have on the inside left of my wedding invites. and its anon. hopefully its not too cheekie.
i think a cash donation would be nice with one of the poems along side it. or a voucher from their favourite shop to buy what they think they need?

| I went to my friends wedding, and I took loads of photos on the day, random ones that the photographer would never get (all the friends getting drunk, the kids playing in puddles etc) and I went home and got them made into a book (snapfish I think!) you can get some lovely ones, wedding themed or funny ones, and you can put your own words in to personilise it. My friend loved it, and it only cost about £20 XxXx |

| Not sure wether anybody does this near you but here a studio does life casting where you can get anything moulded like bumps and babys hands/ feet ...but on my local shops website they have a picture of a couples holding hands with weddings rings on the final cast (you can either get framed or on a stand like a statue) the hands wer left sto colours and the rings where painted gold it looks beautiful and is not too expensive anyway I think that would be a lovely wedding gift if they do this near you xx |

| When we got married, we got married in Cyprus, so we didn't want presents (we really didn't)but for those who insisted we asked for champagne (which is always a good buy at Manchester airport). Then two days before the wedding we had a pre wedding champagne party and shared the champagne with our guests). Only down side to this is that I was pregnant and couldn't have any we did have a party at home and work collegues etc got us vouchers for Next, debs, and m&s which were nice but we didn't need anything so it was just spend on bedding etc. One couple bought us a red fruit bowl, which we love as it's our only real wedding present. |
