| I was watching it too. I realise that I've never had that desire to have a baby of a particular sex but I really don't feel comfortable with it at all. Knowing so many women who desperately want a healthy baby of either sex I just think people should realise that we can't always get everything we 'want' in life and people should be thankful for having a healthy baby. It makes me really uncomfortable when I hear of women having baby after baby just so they can have a girl. How must that feel for the boys knowing that they weren't the 'right' sex? I think if it is for medical reasons then fair enough but otherwise I don't like the idea at all. Sorry I've had a bit of a rant there xx |

| oh god, i not seen it as paige has taken over the tv.. but i remember seeing that program on people who had laods of boys and wanted a girl.. like yes i can understand that people want a girl.. but i think they way they go about it is wrong. as long as the baby is healthy then thats all that should matter. |

| My Brother and SIL did this. They had 4 boys and were told that they couldnt ever have a girl naturally. They flew to both America and Cyprus to get it done. She fell pregnant with triplets (all girls) in America, but unfortunately she went into early labour at 23 weeks and the babies didnt survive. They then went to Cyprus, but it didnt work and she didnt fall pregnant. She then fell pregnant naturally and they were told it was a boy. At a follow up scan, they were told they were wrong and she was having a girl. Now I have a little niece. I personally wouldnt do this myself. I would be happy with all girls if that is what nature intended. As long as my babies are healthy, then that is my priority. x |

| I missed this too but my personal opinion is a baby is a blessing from God and if you are blessed enough to be offered this gift then one should be grateful and gratefully accept this gift regardless of gender.
Random people say to me "oooh one of each you must be so happy" My reply is if they were both girls or both boys I would still be as happy as I am today. A couple of family members commented saying how proud hubby must be that we have one of each and are now a perfect family and we said the same thing to them too.
A "perfect" family isn't a mum, a dad, a little boy and a little girl. A perfect family is one who showers there children with love, affection and letting them know every day how wanted and loved they are xxx |

| I dont think I would do it. If I was lucky enough to have another baby I wouldnt mind either way. A boy would be great for Stuart not to be outnumbered, first grandson etc, but a girl would be great company for Caitlin less £££ on clothes/toys/bedding etc. However, had Caitlin been a boy... I have to be honest and say I think I would long for a girl. I didnt think that when I was pg with her, so maybe Id be saying the opposite if I knew what joy sons bring to peoples lives. Anyway I dont think I would do it but I can understand how people become desperate to have a certain sex. Yes babys are blessings, but is making gender selection available to those having IVF etc really that bad a thing? What harm is it doing the rest of us? How different is this than having medical interventions to get/stay pg? Or taking the morning after pill? We have all messed with nature to some degree. I do find the discarding of unwanted embryo's hard though. It is a difficult subject, but I wouldnt make anyone feel bad for considering it. |

| We will never have the money to do it so it's a bit of a moot point but I'd go for it if we did. I desperately would love to have another little boy. If everything goes ok with this pregnancy then I'll be having on more and thats it. The risks are to high for me to have lots of babies so if I could gaurantee that the next one would be a boy then I would x |

| If I had another one I would love it to be a girl just for the balance and the experience of having a girl but in reality I wouldn't really care because I adore my little boy and all the muck and filth that goes with him A girl would also be good for the outnumbering going on here OH Wil male cat 2 boy dogs only me and Patsy cat are girls |

| There are some conditions that only affect girls/boys or or 20x more likely in certain sexes (to do with chromosomes/genes). Therefore if you have a girl with a certain condition and know its more likely to happen again if you had another girl.... you may want to have a boy. x |

silly questions - but wat medical reasons wud there be to choose a babies sex? x there are some conditions(lily-ann's is a prime one) that affect one sex only so Gender Selection is advised/offered sometimes |

| My nephews have a thing called Alpha One, which is something to do with the liver. I dont really get it tbh, as I was only a teenager when it all came out. I do know that it is much more common in boys and is rarely heard of in girls. My eldest nephew has it, two others are carriers and one doesnt have it and isnt a carrier either. x |

yes i would say so amy xx Well mainly yes, but a bit like Laura was saying, if there is a genetic condition that runs in your family and you are known to carry the gene it may be considered for the 1st born. Not sure how many countries already allow this. x |

| for medical reasons id say yes, but wouldnt be something id personally , but not against someone chosing to do it of they want...like kenty befor i had kids, i wanted girls, boys being boistrous scared the hell out of me, but my 2 are such a joy, slugs slime and all they are so loving and after having leo i actually wanted another boy(although i wouldnt be botherd either way)if i had another i must admit i still really want a girl, but as long as the baby is healthy thats all that matters i watched that programme a while ago about it, and that woman comparing her having 5 boys and no girls to someone who couldnt have babies at all yes i can totally understand the longing to have a girl...but how would them poor boys feel knowing that basically they arent good enough for their mum x |
