| Lesley try to relax hun, I had one when Amelia was 4 months old and that was my 1st ever. It was absolutely fine, didn't hurt at all, as you know I had a lot of stitches! I think after having Amelia I just thought "oh well what's a few more people seeing my chuff" and just relaxed and let them get on with it! |

| I don't have a problem with smear tests, I didn't find it painful. I guess as I use to check my cervix and cm etc while ttc it's made me' chill out about it.
My last one came out borderline too Laura, I've gotta go back in a few months.
Carla it's to check and make sure you don't have cancerous cells, you know the whole jade goodey thing. She didn't have a smear test regularly enough and by the time she did it was too late. Sorry don't mean to scare monger it's just so important to be safe! |

| the last one i had was a little different, instead of using the old spatula, she used a brush thing to brush round the cervix and it didn't hurt at all. It's definitely less uncomfortable if you relax. I lost any dignity I had when I had Chloe so it really doesn't bother me who looks up there now (within reason of course ) |

I have only had one smear and that was when I was 17 after I had an abortion - I aborted because I was in and out of counselling and not in the right mind at all so not fair to bring a baby up like that xxx |

| I can't believe some ladies still haven't had one When I was 21 I found I had pre-cancerous cells in my cervix and had various treatment (yes, painful, but not as painful as chemo/radiation!) - no form of cancer runs in my family and I am not high risk for it, but there it was. I'm SO glad I went and had regular smears, because by now I probably wouldn't have Elijah, or possibly even be alive - I know this sounds really patronising, but just swallow your pride and go for it, it's too important for 5 minutes of being uncomfortable! I had to have them every 6 months up until I became pregnant, it was never fun but I'm so sure it is worth it (p.s I can't believe your oh said that laura!) |
