Sorry men - but the reason men have had higher premiums is because they are more likely to have bad accidents...woman may have more smaller bumps (men will argue that) but cost wise men were always the higher risk and payouts

So all this means is womans car insurance will go up to balance it out!

I agree on other insurance, cos our house insurance was cheaper in my name than Dans - and that is just stupid because a man is no surely more likely to get burgled, have a fire etc!

I think sooner or later no one will be able to sell anything to anyone specific for fear of discrimination - 'womans cancer insurance' won't exist cos its sexist - will have to be just cancer insurance!

I have to agree with Suzi on the house insurance.

The only pratt who drills through radiator pipes and has to claim on the house insurance here is male. Oh and he did it twice

I think this is stupid too!!! You could go one and one with it. Why should someone who lives in a cruddy area have to pay higher rate of car insurance than someone who lives in a lower crime area...surely this is discrimination against someone who cant afford to live somewhere else.

If premiums are calculated against risks etc, then they should be able to use all factors!!

The most annoying thing is that no one will really benefit from this!! It's not as if men will recieve lower premuims, just that women will have to pay more!!

It is a joke! Car insurance also goes by age too, so whats next 'age discrimination'?!

So, before we know it, I will be paying the same insurance as an 18 year old boy racer! Yay!

welcome to the 21st centurary, women fought for us to have the vote and equal rights and when it happens we moan about it. ( i am teasing, i can just hear my nan telling me this)

i was refused a quote for car insurance because of being a single parent and a student by a well known female only insurance company, i'd imagine they will soon be gone :-)

but paying the same as russ will be annoying but with my job my premiums higher than it would be if i just worked in an office??? it doesnt matter if i was male or female to be honest

to be honest some of the laws from eu i will welcome, particulary the one where you get paid for 12 months maternity leave, that would be nice dont you think..

i had to watch this on the news about 8 times throughout the night and everytime i just wanted to scream at the tv!
The reason we pay less is CLEARLY based on facts, statistics etc, not discrimmination!
