| How did you decide that your LO was ready for big bed? What age did they move to big bed? |

| Thomas was about 20-21 months and the reason I did it was because I wanted him used to it before I put Hannah in her own room. I thought him getting up and down would disturb her as her door is directly adjacent to his. As it happens we didn't have that problem and he took to it straight away - tbh I'm not even sure he realised he could get out for a good while and when he did he was used to it.
I didn't really think/know he was ready - I just did it and hoped for the best.

| Izzy moved just before xmas, she would have been 22 months
Her nursery was so small she could reach out of the cot and get to everywhere - so cot was in middle of room, but if she got out she'd still have landed on something! So she moved to a new room with a bed.
Izzy was the same as Thomas, she didnt get out for ages, not until we went in and said to get out lol....she does now though which is better cos I can stay in bed a few more minutes! |

| Andrew went in in march last year so 2 years and 19 months. He climbed out of his cot so I got him a bed immediately so he was safe Hope that helps! Are you thinking of putting Ollie into a big bed? |

| Yeah, not sure whether he's too young though? We've got a gate on his door so don't need to worry about him escaping but worried about.....well I don't know what I'm worried about |

| Is it a cotbed where if you trialed him with it as a bed if it wasnt working you could put the sides back on?
To be honest I wont be putting Sophie into bed mode any time soon unless she has other ideas and climbs out! She still wriggles about a lot and I dont think she is quite ready for a duvet and dont really want her in a bed with a sleeping bag... Is Ollie unhappy in his cot?
My MIL said that my SIL was always really unhappy in her cot and when she was 13/14 months she put her in a bed and she was so much happier and went to bed without a fuss!
I asked in mothercare once and they recommend 18 months for a bed... not sure why though?

| Yeah it's a cotbed. Was thinking about taking just the one side off so he can't fall between the cot and the wall. At the moment I'm having difficulty getting up straight away in the mornings and feel bad for Ollie sitting in his cot with nothing to do so thought that at least with no side on the cot then he can get out and read or something. Ollie has used a duvet since 12 months. I've always worried about a sleeping bag at his age because I picture him trying to stand in it and falling in to the cot side. |

| We put Libby in at just under 18 months, I was asbolutely petrified about doing it as she was such a wriggle bum and would end up all over her cot. We also made the leap from sleeping bags to quilt on the same day so was a massive change for her, but she took to it fantastically, had a nap during the day and slept as if she were in her cot and then that very first night we didnt hear a peep from her (I did keep checking on her though). She did fall out a few times in the first couple of weeks but because the bed is so low she was fine and just went straight back in and to sleep, she hasnt fallen out since. She still doesnt get out of bed now though, in the mornings she will shout for me and will not move until I've gone in there and opened her blind, put her socks on (odd child ) and said to her 'come on then'. Good luck when you do decide hun. Oh and we didnt have a clue if she was ready or not, we were just impatient and excited about seeing her 'beg bed' up in her bedroom xxx |

| Well im really trying to leave it as long as possible, she can climb out of her cot *gulp* but only does it out of temper. Trouble is we have to share a room with her (house hunting atm!) and as soon as them sides come down I can see her slipping into our bed every night!! |

| We were thinking about moving chloe as she kept getting her legs stuck in the cot bars, so when we moved house last August we put her big bed up in her new bedroom with the cot and after a couple of weeks of sitting on it, she just decided she wanted to sleep in it and refused to get in her cot, we didn't really have any problems with her getting out, in fact I think it took her a week or so before she realised she could get out by which time she was used to it. I have got a small bed guard on it so she can't fall out |

| My Oliver went in his big bed at 18/19mth just for the simple reason is that we only had a cot (as opposed to a cotbed) and he'd grown out of it - he kept getting his limbs stuck between the bars and banging his head etc when he turned. He settled in reasonably well but we have had our ups and downs since - its not always plain sailing but they do get there eventually. Oliver used to get out and play on a morning, now he just comes to the gate and shouts 'up', 'breakfast', 'juice', 'wee-wee' and so on Good luck |

| I'm planning to take the side off Wil's cot bed at Easter because I have 5 days off work to cope with even less sleep if he decides to get out of bed in the night.
Wil is staying in his cot bed as long as possible because he is still too little to get into the single bed he will eventually use and I want him to be able to get into bed himself. The single bed will take up a lot more space in his room too so he will lose playing space. |

| Glad it going so well lita! Im waiting until Caitlin can climb out. She a monkey atm but hasnt tried climbing out yet. Its a cotbed so like you i'l prob start with taking one side off, she does 360 degree turns in her cot all night so Im hoping to hold off until she 2-2.5 (halloween time). Her bedroom floor is tiled so falling out would hurt & be cold!!! I'l need to invest in a big shaggy rug! |

| I've stuck a spare duvet on the floor - folded into 3, seems to have cushioned the fall so far hence why he hasn't noticed lol! I've heard him go, gone into his room and he's been snuggling up into the duvet on the floor |

| Aww bless him - Thomas fell out once or twice but I did what go have and put a folded duvet on the floor and like Oliver - he just snuggled on it. I took it wawy eventually and hes fine now, I can hear him get out of bed now and then but he doesnt fuss and when I check him before bed he is back in and under the covers so I know he can get himself covered back up now.
Thomas still only has one side off his cotbed, it's one that turns into a bench when you've finished with it as a bed so I just left it like that. Stops all the covers falling down between the bed and wall too.

| Aimee went into a full size single bed at 18 months. Its a pretty big bed too. She did fall out a couple of times, but I just used the cot mattress on the floor for a couple of months to break her fall, and she was fine. She has fallen out of her bed recently too, I ran up there and she was still asleep on the floor, lol! x |
