It's strange isn't it - I think we had first steps from 11months and within a fortnight he was upto 47 steps and was running around in no time!
We had a lot of gurgles and sounds from early on which he lost for a while, like the 'd' sound
- I think first word was baby at about 10months?
Now he can say, in context- baby, gone, da da, a range of animal noises (sheep, pig, horse, fish, cow, ha-hoo!! )and his own word for please/thank you which is 'bitta'
and he says 'der' (like "there' but with a d!) a
lot - which either means 'what is it' or 'there it is' or (if said more urgently!) 'i neeeeed it now!'
He says ma-ma but it comes out the same as the noise for sheep - I'm not impressed
He understands SO much though - can point out animals and pictures in books and food on his plate, bring you jigsaw pieces and toys by name, follows verbal instructions like coming upstairs for nappy / go to sleep (awww, laying his head down
) - giving a kiss, waving by-bye, clap etc. - knows and points to body parts (head, toes, eyes, ears, nose, mouth) and that's just a few examples!; so I have a feeling he will go 0-60 super fast like he did with walking and have a spurt of words.
I think it's less about what they do when and more about the whole picture - it's only when you stop and think you realise how much they have come on and learnt in such a short time! Amazing little things
