| i'm getting this in before we can't afford clothes anymore ![Laughing](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_lol.gif) any recommendations? i don't want to waste money on impractical things for summer - elijah will be 12-18 months.... are short rompers too babyish for his age? (even though they are adorable!) what kind of summer hats are actually worthwhile? he is so fair i am worried he will burn really easily. are shorts worthwhile??? or is it simpler or more practical to just go for a nappy..... is it worth getting long sleeved things? or just go for short sleeved vests, t-shirts... this is all assuming its warm again this year! |

| Asda do some lovely short and t shirt sets usually.. I have a 11 and 6 yr old and from previous years of summer clothes shopping I would buy shorts, only short sleeved t-shirts or shirts. Cardis/jackets for cooler days. Keep your shorts from this year as next year his bum will still fit and the following year he wont have a nappy (well shouldn't lol) so his bum will fit with pants!! Shorts are great... I buy about 5 hats, and generally he keeps none on... I may try bandanas this year for H ??! Ive just ordered a summer cap for Hayden from Asda for £1.
If your a bit skint (I always am) try ebay, ppl sell big bundles of summer stuff.. just give it a wash through and throw in charity what you dont want... |

| tbh I would wait until the summer... we bought loads of things in the corect age appropriate sizes for Tyler.. so loads of winter things in 12 to 18 months and hes only just starting to fit into it now! Plus like you say it might not even be warm enough for summer clothes.. or it could be too hot for anything other than a nappy! |

| I think I only had one pair of shorts last year, though Caitlin also had dresses that were worn without tights so maybe elijah could do with a cpl pairs. I would def reccommend buying long sleeved options, maybe 50/50 short/long. Quite often it wasnt quite warm enough for short sleeves and it also covers them up if you worried about him burning. (I would like to remind you at this point that you live in Scotland woman! ![Laughing](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_lol.gif) ) Also I found that 12-18mths lasted ages. You get used to them growing out of things in 3 months and then their growth suddenly slows loads at around 1yr. These clothes will prob do him into the autumn too and you could get wear out of long sleeve tops with cardys/jackets then. Hats, Caitlin refused to wear so I just put the hood of her pram up. Maybe buy a cheap one at £2 and see how he goes with it - try tesco/asda. Oh short/t-shirt pj's I found good also, again asda jobbys. |

hahaha thanks ![Wink](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_wink.gif) although last year elijah was wearing just a short sleeved vest a lot of the time - and he was teeny then - so who knows what the weather will be like this year (probably pissing it down cos elijah can actually go outside!) atm he won't wear hats, i have seen some sun hats that have little chin straps (haha cute) but i dunno if they will drive him crazy. i have a few t-shirts and things, i know that we are really going to be struggling for money so i'm looking for deals just now - hopefully that won't backfire too much (id rather things are too big than too small though ![Very Happy](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_biggrin.png) ) |

| i bought ava's summer stuff over the past few days, got nearly all 12-18 as she's still quite small and in 6-9 and a few 9-12 things still.
i think romper suits are cute, what about dungaree shorts? they have nice ones in next
not sure about hats, ava won't keep them on either but i'll still have to buy one.
i've went for short sleeve tops mostly but got cardigans and hoodies to layer on colder days. |

| yeah i think cardies and hoodies too, although haven't seen many nice ones. i gave up on dungarees at about 3-6 months - all you need is one big puke or some finger food gone astray and you have to change the whole lot - pain in the bum! ![Very Happy](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_biggrin.png) i had a look on next and ordered some plain t-shirts last week, only to discover they have new stuff today! mwahaha might have another gander eli seems to be just right in his 9-12 month stuff now so i guess he will be about right for 12-18 month things |

| Libby wore alot of shorts and tshirts/vests last year (we dont really do dresses on her much ![Embarassed](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_redface.gif) ) and footwear - crocs, they are the BEST thing for the garden as you can wash them easily and so ridiculously cheap! With regards to hats, Libby would refuse to wear them at first so we threatened to take her back inside if she didnt, it didnt take long for her to actually want to wear one so she could go out in the garden, I think we had 4 last year (obviously to go with different outfits ![Wink](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_wink.gif) ). If it's a slightly cooler day I would put on some light cotton cargo trousers and a long sleeve top. I managed to get the whole of Libby's summer wardrobe really cheap from tesco's, I had a voucher code so got things for a real bargain. xxx |

| Wil lived in shorts and shirts last summer. He had tshirts too but shirts are cooler generally. Loose tshirts are good for in the paddling pool to keep the sun off.
He didn't wear vests at all.
His crocs were worn out by the end of the summer he wore them so much.
The legionnaires hats (baseball cap with a flap on the back) are good. We attached some strings to Wil's so they tied under the chin and stayed on.
I bought Wil some Clarks sandals last year but wouldn't bother again because by the time he broke them in enough that he could wear them without socks it was too cold to do so. They were £15 and were still like new when the summer ended. His £5 sandals from Tesco were fine without socks all summer.
