| i AM going to that interview tomorrow iv found out it is contracted, and does pay sick pay and holiday pay. if im offerd the job im still not sure if i will take it, but as gill said even if i dont its good practice if they can assure me they wont be bothering me to take on extra shifts all the time then i may take it, so long as its eavnings rather then earlys as they start at 6am and i dont think childminders even start that early... so yeah basically if they offer me the job, i will take it but on my terms...is that a bit pushy lol xx |

| No you can only try hun..
If they want you to do extra shifts just tell them you can do them but do require some notice as your children are your priorty and there care is paramount... so you have to check with their child carer.. Who will look after kids if you do evenings?? |

| I glad you've decided to go for it ... But the interview stage isn't the stage for you start laying the law down as it may appear quite negative. Go for it and be positive, if you get the job. Check your contract suits you before you accept in writing (ie signing your contract). Good luck gemz, I really hope you get it x |

| well apparentley they discuss the hours and availability at the beggining...aparentley the interview is very informal...so thered be no point in saying yes ill do whatever hours, then waste their time and mine going through the rest of the interview for me to say well no actually i can only do these times ect...i may as well let them know form the beggining when we discuss the hours when i will be available, if they cannot accomodate that then i wouldnt want the job anyway so wouldnt matter if they didnt offer it me(am i making sense??) but obviousley id be tactful about how i put it...im not just gonna say 'i want these hours end of' ill just be truthfull at the beggining and say ''being a single mum of two young children it would be difficult for me to find childcare it say 6am so would prefer to do the eavning shifts, would that be apossibility if i was offerd the post that a possibility', id just say something like that!! x |

| just back, i got the job now have to decided if i want to do it or not...i will start at the begginig of may of i do it cos they have set traning dates, but have some things i have to consider, the main thing i dont like the sound of is the fact that you dont get paid for traveliong between houses, so if you do an 8hr shift you only oficially do 6(that was an example she gave me) oh they said i could do the hours i wanted too, but im sure she didnt have a clue what she was going on about...i said i wanted 20 hours...she said yes that will be 4 days from 2pm-11pm, but thats 36 hours lol i probibly wont take it tbh, i think iv been a bit spoiled by the nhs and like it as a comfort zone, so will look for internal posts xx |
