A smear test. Now i'm 25 i've had a letter asking me to go in for one.

I'm not too bothered about having it done but the bit that does bother me is as we are TTC and they want you to go in mid cycle it might disturb something.

am i being silly?

a smear test is a priority, your health comes first, i dont think it can have an affect on ttc x

I have had about 3 now hun and they are uncomfortable but nothing too bad...I was advised not have any for 2 days prior to having one

It won't affect ttc, they can only go so far up! lol

Go and have it, cervical cancer has very little or no symptoms in the early stages, this is the only way of detecting if there is a problem.

Im 23 and had quite a lot actually.

I had abnormal cells on my first one and have to have it repeated every 6 months. you should really get one

LOL Pepper i'll remember that. i have to get it booked for a day OH can look after Rowan as dont fancy Rowan running nuts in the room whilst having it done.

I'm 28 and had loaaaaads cos I had abnormal cells and ended up with biopsies and treatment and stuff - was horrible but could have been lots worse

Im 24 and havnt had one yet, my Dr told me to go back for one a couple of months after having Tayla but i really couldnt afford it at the time (cyprus) so when i came back to the uk i rang docs for one but they said i wasnt old enough....
Now i cant rem if you have to be 24 or 25??

Yeah it's 20 here I think but you are meant to start as soon as you become sexually active ('bout 13 in Scotland then ), I am still meant to be getting them every 6 months but I'm all out of sync because of being pregnant

I had my 1st at about 18 because I was having abdominal pains, then again in a routine one when I was at FP clinic at 22 and then my 3rd last xmas at 25.

It must be every 3 years you have to go and once your over 20 in NI.

The 1st time im sorry but it was really sore. I yelped like a baby. (I wasnt a virgin btw). I was dreading my 2nd one but tbh it was no bother, apparently they had changed the instrument they do it with, and my 3rd was a doddle.... 4 mths after giving birth I think my pain threshold had increased!

Its like a sweep but not as sore. Just kinda scratchy if you know what I mean...

I've just had a letter through too, I've had a swab done before but never a smear and have also had a MW up to her elbow too lmao! My god she hurt!
