Just sent Matt to the shop to get me some Milky Ways and when he brought them back I noticed on the back of them it says (traces: peanuts, hazelnuts and almonds).

Anyway im staying off nuts completely as Matts nephew has a severe nut allergy.

Ive been eating Milky Ways all the way through my pregnancy and surely what it says is no different to something saying may contain traces of nuts right??!! xx

I never noticed any nuts in them and I ate loads when PG x
Very often when I buy something - anything inc pop - the label will say recipe contains no nuts, factory no nuts but van't guarantee there are no nuts scratch
I just read that on a lemonade bottle Laughing

Dont worry one little bit! I have a nut allergy (peanuts) and I eat milky way all the time and im still alive Very Happy

I prob should be more careful but honestly if I was id not be able to eat any processed foods. Manufacturers are protecting themselves from claims. When I was younger my mum got info from kellogs and the reason some nut free cereals say may contain traces/traces is crunchy nut cornflakes may be made on one production line for a month, then a cereal is discontinued so they swap lines round, give them a clean and maybe then cornflakes are made on that line - eg if they havent cleaned properly there is a teeny chance that a particle of nut may get in. Equally if someone who works in one part of factory swaps round there again is a tiny chance of contamination off clothes etc.

Seriously dont worry!I dont even think they are taking the dont eat nuts in pg that seriously any more. Caitlin had a severe milk allergy, and yes I drank milk when pg but if I get pg again im not going to eat a dairy free diet. I dont blame myself for her allergy. Allergys I think are something that just happen x

im fairly sure you only have to be carful if the allergy is immediate family eg parents anyway. and like snoops said the most recent research is minute exposures actually helps build immunity

like could have been transported somewhere which also contained peanuts or something they would have to put it on incase someone was that allergic to them. Know a little girl cant be in a room when anyone has eaten peanuts for few hours before she went it!! was mad!!

I ate peanut butter non stop with both of mine!! and mean non stop lol both fine.... they might be a bit nutty maybe Wooops! 953986 .......... sorry Embarassed

I wouldnt worry hun.

I was told both times I was pregnant to actually eat a handful of nuts now and again as it is supposed to help build immunity to them.

I wouldn't worry hun.

I too have heard that small exposure actually builds up some immunity as Laura and Mario say.

I think it is one of those areas where the government keep changing the advice they give.

I think thats normal. I was paranoid about everything I ate. At the start I gave up eating pineapple as I worried that if it helped bring on labour it would cause a miscarriage. I'm blaming that on my brain not working due to extreme sleep deprivation.

I ate nuts too, also, i think they are just covering their arses. i mean, the warnings on packs are so ridiculous now'a'days. I bought some peanuts the other day and on the pack it said 'contains nuts'!

duh!!!

Yeah, they've changed their minds on this one so much, when I became pg with oscar (nearly 3 years ago) it was No nuts at all in pregnancy, then by the time he was born it was OK unless either parent had Astmha, then by the time I was PG with Niamh it was fine to eat nuts as normal for everyone!

I certainly wouldn't worry about lables that say "may contain traces" that is just so you can't sue them if like it's been said above a tiny trace causes a reaction.

I think the worst thing is worrying about it tbh, just try and relax I'm sure your bubs will be absolutely fine xx
