| OK i'm currently reading a books set around the Tudors.
Now i didnt know this but life revolved around religion. I'm not either way not religious or am.
But reading this book, has got me interested and i find myself wanting to learn more about the belief that people have.
any way, in the book its about religion, everything you do is about it. you live your life by it and are not to share your views if you have a different religion or believe that those who worship one way are wrong etc.
any way reading how things may have been and most likely were them days, it has me interested.
and i'd like to know your views on religion as i said i'm interested in learning about it.
We all interpret things differently so would like to know what you all think. |

| I am catholic and I dont practice my faith.
I think religion makes some people feel secure in a way? Like the thought of going to heaven when they die etc. Its a hard subject one id rather not think about but I am interested in learning about religion (not just my own)
also dont believe in a lot the catholic church say either

| I was brought up with religion, I was christened, we attended church every Sunday and then from the age of around 5 I went to Sunday school every week, I got confirmed at 12 etc. I always believed what the Church and our vicar said growing up. Now, I'm not so sure, as I've got older, I find myself questioning things more and more. I believe there is more to life then what we can see. but I don't know what. The whole idea of there being a God confuses me. I don't live my life by religion but I do try and treat other people as I would like to be treated myself (most of the time ) Would be interested to hear people's views on this |

| ok here's a part from the book.
(About king edward henry 8th son.)
I'll wager he'll be even more a frantic than king henry, my late revered uncle burned heretics, but mainly because they espoused beliefs that conflicted with his policies. with the son, policy takes second place to religion.
basically its about the king dying and his sister mary becoming queen and she's catholic and not protestant.
i think Kate might know what i'm on about as she's read it too. |

| see i work in an office and everyone has a different faith.
Now i listen to everything they say as i find it interesting.
But i think what i find interesting is the fact people used to and some still do live their lives by the way of god.
Now i dont know if there is a heaven, no one actually knows.
I'm tempted to go read a bible too. is that sad? i really am interested |

| No but I think if you read a bible then you will pick up a lot of information that is obviously made up? which might make you question a lot more. go for it have a read and see what you think.
The thing I disagree with the most is the fact that catholics are not allowed to use any form of contraception. there are people in africa with aids who think that the cure for aids is sleeping with a virgin? who also believe that they shouldnt use any form of contraception! its crazy! |

| The thing with the bible is that it's a book which contains lots of different people's version of events. so like any story that is being retold, it's not necessarily going to be accurate. It's also been revised many times. It can be hard going reading the Bible, particularly if you read the Old Testament because of the language used, but go for it, some of it is quite interesting |

| i was bought up a catholic, went to a catholic school and went to church each sunday with my nan and grandad...as iv grown older though i dont really believe in a lot of the things the catholic church say/believe! my son goes to a catholic school but we are not practicing catholice, the school and the catholic secondry school are good schools and as bad as it may sound that is the main reason for sending him there i think im probibly closer to spiritualist and buddist(sp) although i dont really know much about them two they probibly share a lot of the same beliefs i do... so basically i dont follow any single religion, i believe what i believe but certainly dont live my lifestyle round it...if you get me x |

| gemz sending your boys to a catholic school because its the best isnt a bad thing at all!
me and oh have been discussing what we want to do about hannahs religion. we are both non practicing catholics and the best schools in our area are catholic.
we think she will go to a catholic school but she wont be baptised - she will participate in religious education. her class mates will be confirmed etc and if she wants to be then we will have her baptised when she is old enough to ask. we have a feeling she may want to be if all her friends are? but we will see
we found all we did was argue about her religion but not for the right reasons. I was more worried about who to invite/not to invite to her baptism so we are not doing it. |
