anyones kids have this?? if so did the school do anything about it ie labell the colouring pencils?
just iv known leo has been colourblind since he was little,at first i wasnt sure if he was just slow at learning colours...but as he is getting older its becoming more obvious at how kind of bad it is
i know it really isnt a big issue but i dont want kids(you know how crule they can be) saying stuff at school if say he colours an orange in green or something
i can be certain what colours its too because sometimes he will get them wrong and sometimes he gets them right, suppose it depends what shade they are
but the other day he was doing a coulour by number picture for homework, i was telling him the colours her needed and he was getting them...for green, first he chose red, then brown then orange till finaly he chose the green
then in the bath i squirted his body wash on him and said 'ohh you look like a big green goey monster' and he said 'do you mean white' so i know he deffinatley mixes up green, orange, red and brown...iv had him tested, but the opticinan just wrote 'possibilty of colour blindness or low understanding of number' but i know for a fact he knows all his numbers Rolling Eyes

but is there anyway they can tell me exactley what colours are effected?? iv googled it and it says its usually red/brown, but i know for a fact its more than just red and brown, the biggest problem seems to be the green tbh, and sometimes really pale coulours he see's as white

does anyone know anyone who's coulourblind and what colours too and how they found out?? x

Hi gemz

there are online tests for this. If u can't find them let me know. I don't know much but my husband works in an industry were he couldn't employ a colour blind person so he test all potential employees. Some grown men are unaware they're colour blind and there are all different degrees of this.

I'll text him and ask him what the test is called.

I wouldn't worry though as huge percentage of males suffer from this. It's just good that you're aware of this.

thanx, iv found quite a few online test, which iv done with him befor, but tbh its all quite confusing colour blindness 548646 because aparentley the most common is red/green(think i put red brown befor oops)but then why would he confuse orange,bown,white...also blue with purple!!
i just wish someone could sit us down and say right he has difficulty seeing these colours...these are the jobs that may be effected(i know online it says pilot, police and firefighter) just hope he doesnt want to be any of them!!
xx

I'll ask oh later, I've text him but he's not replied. I don't think it would affect many jobs. My oh works with ink so colour is obviously important.

my cousin is colour blind and couldnt get a job on the underground... as he couldnt clearly identify the train line colours on maps. .Shocked

It generally affects just red and green swaps them aparently.. Speak to his class teacher and ask if the school can test him in some way

This just confirms what you said about opticians, maybe try another (different) one?:

This is really useful (I think!) too:
