oh well I can help with this one.

our cat caught a mouse and we called out pest control. there is no humane ones really the options he gave us were poison but I said no to that because its also a poison to the cat. next step is traps. Im doing neither. he checked our whole house and we have filled in any gaps/tiny holes in the skirting. he does think it was a one off because we havnt seen any droppings or no food is missing/been lying out.

he says its because we live in a house and our back yard is very dull with no sunlight so it will always be moist. a mouse can live for ages with no food as long as it has water. so one coming in every now and again is bound to happen and we have the perfect solution with our cat being so young he will see it as a game to catch them.

so Ive probably got the most inhumane trap out because Im pretty sure he played with it for a long time as there was blood EVERYWHERE!

so fill in all tiny holes with steel wool and plaster. might be worth getting pest control out to check under kitchen cabinets etc.

Ive just got to tell you a little story, sorry! We came home one night from a night out (in Cyprus) very drunk and saw a mouse run under the washing machine, i pooped myself and said i wouldnt go to sleep until it was caught. So bless Luke, v drunk was in the kitchen making a home made trap (i cant remember how) he put a marsbar in it, sat in the bedroom and waited....it only bloody worked though Laughing Was rather funny the next day thinking of him drunk making his homemade trap!

hahaha ohhh thats a bit grisly but quite cute Laughing

hmmm i dunno, we have absolutely no money at the moment (like, to the point that we are umming about buying a loaf of bread tomorrow), so no pest control just now - will just wait out, im not that bothered its just that it isn't my house!

ugh hopefully it just gets bored and goes away again (unlikely eh Laughing)

He just leaves it flat in the garden when they are in it. The only reason they can't get out when its propped up is because the glass is too slippery so when it's flat they escape

I have absolutely nothing useful to contribute, except that I keep reading this thread's title as "human mousetraps" and getting freaked out about what Mari's into. Laughing
