Bought vitamins last night, tesco multi vitamins + Iron.

Read the back of label this morning and it says [i]' This product contains vitamin A. Do not take if you are pregnant, planning to or likely to become pregnant' Surely that's nearly all women aged 16-40 then....

I'm not actively ttc atm, but iv been off the pill since xmas. If it happens it happens and I will be properly trying at some stage this year. Do you think there's any harm in taking these vitamins? I could buy those pre pregnancy ones but they were so much dearer for basically the same thing. Iv forgotten why women who are pg shouldn't have vitamin A? I also seem to have forgotten how stressful/guilt trippy it is being pg. Even buying bloody vitamins is worrying!!!

Vitamin A increases the chance of birth defects especially when taken in early preg, so I wouldn't advise it if theres a chance you might fall pregnant while on them x

What?? I bought multi vits with iron cause i was told to after i had my miscarriage. Just checked them and they say the same thing. pfft, maybe it's just covering their ass like most things these days. i've been told by a few diff midwives/nurses to take multi vitimins

Tesco do a pregnancy and conception tablet I normally get those think they are around £3 and there vitamins are normally 3 for 2

Didnt see them last night nutty but i'l look again next time im down, I just didnt think standard vits would be unsuitable. We got the 3 for 2, multi vits for me, vit drops for Caitlin and vit C tabs for Stu! x

Shell dont be silly! If it was THAT dangerous midwifes would mention it at booking in and also would be huge warning on front of box. You aint a bad mummy! xxx

there is loads of info/advice about avoiding vitamin a (i got a leaflet at booking among other things saying not to eat liver, take multivits due to the vit a) i really craved slimfast yummmmm but you aren't meant to drink it cos of the high vit a content either!

thanks hun. i remember when i bought them i was staring at 5diff bottles for ages trying to decide, not sure how i missed the warning. not going to worry too much as i find a lot of the time those warning are then but when yuo ask a mw they're like yeah you can take that xx
