| Hiya, we're off tomthe swimming baths tomorrow - first time for Imogen! Soooooooo...... What did you do that was successful, and what fatal errors should I avoid?
Bit nervous! Hope she likes it!
BTW, are armbands better, or a rubber ring? Or do we just paddle as deep as she likes and just see how she goes? (it's a walk-in one)
Thank youuuu xxx |

| not sure with a bigger toddler, but we still put elijah in his little suit and swim nappy...... dont forget swim nappies let the wee through so dont hold her for too long! also, if you can take someone else, do , its really helpful to have an extra hand!!! ask at the desk if they have highchairs/pens for toddlers in the changing area - ours have family size cubicles on one side with highchairs/changing tables in them so you can 'trap' your baby which is inifitely helpful!!! i would also take extra dry socks so when the first/second/third pair get wet you still have some.........i would just paddle with imogen and maybe see if your local pool has floats as you will be with her anyway - i know some pools have rules on what each age child has to wear though (our pool has everything available and people just borrow them as they need) erm.....apart from all that, have loads of fun, elijah loves going swimming |

| Thanks Mari, I never imagined the pool might have rules about that! Also if the swim nappy lets the wee out, do you get a purple cloud around you?!! OH is coming too thankfully, not sure I could manage alone with her sprinting off while I'm half undressed lol! |

| I'd say arm bands are the best as if she attempts to toddle off you don't have to worry about her slipping out the ring. Immi loves the freedom she gets with her arm bands as well
Can't really think of anything else. Imogen loves swimming so it's always been fairly simple for us.
Be prepared to leave after 10mins tho if she really hates it and just screams though! My aunty took Immi once and the heaters werent working and apparently Immi just screamed so they were only there for 5-10mins lol |

| We double up with swim nappy and then nappy swimming trunks to try and stop anything escaping. I know his younger but we just hold Jamie except when we're in the shallow end and then he crawls about (our pool slopes down so starts with basically no water). We also found that the first couple of times Jamie went he just wanted to stare at everything |

| The thing about purple dye?? Does this even exist? I thought it was just a lie that my mum made up when we were little and that I tell my kids Ellie had a sit in floaty when she was little but is now great with armbands x |

| Yes I am hoping and praying she enjoys it rather than screaming the place down!
So, double swim nappy, lots and lots of socks, armbands, more socks and an extra pair of hands. Sorted!
A friend at college was working part time at the uni pool and one day she said they'd had to drain the pool cos someone had "been" in it. Unless there was a turd floating around in there, I'd always assumed it was a purple dye job. Maybe it actually was a number two!! |

| Oh no that reminds me one time my dad brought my sister over to visit, she must have been 3 tops at the time and me 13, and she did the biggest puke in the jacuzzi at the pool. We just snook off without telling anyone! God my dad was irresponsible! So glad he's finally grown up!! |
