as you know we live in an old cottage and i know i should expect some mold but i have just been looking at my living room wall and its soaked! the wall paper is coming off and the wall is black with dampness! what should i do?
i love this house but lots of little problems with it the boiler has broken and now this dampness! ian suffers really badly with asthma and i know dampness effects it!
is there anythin the landlady can do or should we start lookin into writing to council and findin somewhere else to live?

The landlady can get it removed hun, you should get onto her. It might mean you have to move out for a few days though as they will need to dry out the house.
I'd hound her every single day until the boiler is fixed and the mould is sorted, you pay good money to live there! she has an obligation to fix these things

well the landlady is responsible for fixing it... if it's that wet I would expect there is a leak somewhere!

I'd say get on the phone to the landlady and hopefully she will send someone round straight away. If she's not very helpful then could you tell her you will get someone round and the cost can be taken out of your rent?

theres mold in all rooms on the celing so will be a expensive thing for her! we heard to have boiler fixed or even replace will cost arm and a leg as its oil heating

well... she will have to get it fixed whether you live there or not won't she?

I wouldn't worry about her costs... she should have insurance to cover these type of things?

I would still get hold of her and see what she says like jade said shes gonna have to do it anyway if she wants people living in there xx

Being an old house isn't an excuse tbh - Ive never lived in a house less than a hundred years old, this one is much older, never had damp.

The landlord needs to sort it as its not healthy - I wouldnt live there if she wont fix it cos it will get worse as the winter draws in

It shouldn't matter about the cost. That's her problem. You need to get on at her to sort it as it's bad for all your health and only going to get worse in winter. Good luck for talking to landlady and getting it sorted x

You need to pursue it. damp isn't good for you or your babies health at all, She has an obligation to let out the property in a liveable condition, and if she won't get it sorted, she shouldn't be letting it out at all.

She is the landlady and if she is letting the property out then she should be making sure at whatever cost that the house is liveable! xx

Char get back on to her that's unacceptable, heating might temporarily dry the house out but it wont stop the problem.. it could be something simple like a leaking roof that is causing the whole lot but if she doesnt get it fixed she shouldn;t be letting the house at all... and it will ventually just crumble if she leaves it forever !

That is a terrible attitude of her to have!
