| Pretty sure i've got thrush, should i go to the drs/mw and will they prescribe me something or do i just buy canniston from supermarket? I don't want to spend money if i can get something prescribed but don't want to waste time at the drs if they just tell me to go to the shops. |

| Yeah thrush is quite common in pregnancy.
Do they have a Minor Ailments Scheme in your area? If so you can get canesten cream free over the counter with your mat exemption card.
Or if it's a raging bad case then see the doc and ask for the cream/pessary duo pack, which will be faster acting.
The only thing you can't have is the oral treatment xx |

| if you get free prescriptions you can register yourself (and imogen) at your local chemist - they can give you things over the counter that you might normally need a prescription for, and some things you might normally buy, for free, plus they give you advice. i used to get heaps of gaviscon on it and stuff like bepanthen and calpol for elijah... you can only be registered at one chemist at a time so its a good idea to go for an easy one to get to and one that has decent selection of stuff, it's a really good idea |

| I'm all itchy now after reading that. I was plagued with thrush in pregnancy. Go to the docs Shell and get the pessary it clears it up really quickly. A word of warning though, wear a pantyliner when you have it in and for a day or so after because the remains of the pessary are messy when they come out. |

| Ahh i've just realised I have yet to send off that free prescriptions form, opps. Will get the the drs tomo, get a prescription and get that form signed. Then sign up for the pharmacy thingy, there's a tesco pharmacy shop round the corner so will sign up there. Thanks for the info ladies. Especially Gill, it's been years since I had thrush i had forgotten the joys of pessaries |
