| Well as u know my sis has been lazy and put off going to the docs etc. She thinks she is 13 weeks-ish pregnant now but could be further. Anywho she signed up to a new doctors in her area and they said it can take 2 weeks for a midwife to just ring her....then will have to wait for an appt for a scan. So she will prob be like 16 weeks pregnant by then!! What can she do? I wouldnt of thought they'd leave u that long! (she could be fibbing to me) |

| I went to the doc's when (i believed) I was 5wks, he booked me in for a scan and down for a MW booking in app. I got scanned and was told I was 10+6wks (thought I was 7/8 week'ish by then) but didn't get seen by MW untill I was 16wks gone.
I would tell her to get her finger out tbh, the scan is important, but she need to be seen by 16wks cos they do the triple test thingy don't they?

| its a very important scan!
what was worse is we lived in the same town each of us at either end, i had brilliant care with Rowan and she had terrible care with Rhys.
The doctor told her she had to call the MW unit at the hospital then they said no her GP had to contact them and they would sort it. it went on for ages |

| One of my friends was 35 weeks before she told anyone she was pg and saw anyone. She had her little boy at 37 weeks too so not much prep time.
Terri is there a chance she is in denial and by not seeing anyone she is pretending it is not happening?

| the only thing she could do is try and get a private scan - they will probably try and fit her in on the nhs as soon as they can but it probably will take a while. i don't expect she has thought about wether she is doing the nuchal fold thing and the blood tests for abnormalities? if not it doesn't matter quite so much, but it would be good for her to know everything is where/how it should be sooner rather than later |

| This time I went to dr at 6 weeks and they clicked a button on computer and said the MW team would contact me to arrange an appointment for 10/11 weeks and they would book me in for 12 week scan that day and give me date. MWs still havent rang me. If I dont hear from them by next tue when im 9 weeks i'l ring GP again.
With Caitlin I told GP at 5 weeks, was given date to see MW there and then. Saw midwifes for booking in at 6 weeks (though they did hmm and hah saying it was very early days but would do bloods and paperwork anyway), and then I got letter through for scan when I was 9 weeks and then had the scan at about 12/13 wks.
Id say she would need to see MWs sharpish as could be a 3 week wait on scan. Im nervous enough that im over 8 weeks and have no info about scans/MWs. The only thing is I suppose she is young & fit and the 12 week one just dates pg. So if she aware of how to eat healthily, foods to avoid etc a cpl extra weeks wont make a huge difference. If I was her id be dying to see my little bean but!!!

| theres a fair waiting list for scans here too so if you dont ring gp asap then it sounds about right to me, i rang at 4/5 wks preg n didnt get seen til i was 12 weeks and that was my scan, didnt see midwife til after x |

| With regards seeing MWs late on eg after scans, I get the feeling they dont want to see you until 11 + weeks (if its your 1st pg or had no previous complications in 1st) as there is a risk of mc up until then. Mine def werent thrilled to see me at 6 weeks.
I suppose its less paperwork to squeeze in for them if they only see people in established pg's. They seem so overworked atm. x |

| i actually moved docs at 5/6weeks and i went in to book myself in to the gps and they said mw would contact me, i had mw booking in appt at 10 weeks, and she wrote the forms to send tothe hosp for scan etc.
as she told them she believes shes 12 plus weeks, because they might chase it for her, might be worth asking for community mws number so she can talk to someone
but if she is in denial shes not going to do that |
