hey ladies

My OH is a transport manager and he has just receieved a flash warning from the FTA (freigh transport association) that there is a planned blockade at Stanlow oil refinery planned for Tuesday. The Road Haulage Association are planning to block deliveries in and out for 8 days and this will have a massive impact on the country's fuel supply. Anyone who remembers it happening in September 2000 will remember that the whole country pretty much ran out of fuel in days and pumps were restricted to how much you could buy at a time. Queues for pumps were miles long in places and if this goes ahead then it will be the same (if not worse as there are more cars on the road now).

So basically if you NEED your car for anything for the next week or so then get it filled up soon and try to conserve your fuel.

OH seems to think this is a serious warning as they don't normaly get 'flash messages' unless it's important but like anything else they could decide to postpone it and make me look a fool but I thought I would pass the message on.

xx

I remember the last lot, but worked for a newspaper at the time so we got exemption from the bans on filling up, but it was a bloody nightmare. I'm going to have fun if it does happen, I fill up 2/3 times a week. Might have to get the train to Brum!

Argh, working for the health service this is a realm nightmare - our service doesn't have to provide ambulances etc, but we do need bloods taking to the labs, drugs bringing in, equipment taking off to be sterilised etc, and obviously staff have to get in still.

Guess what our management meeting on Monday is going to be consumed with!!

Thanks for letting us know though, it gives us a chance to put some plans into place

Thanks for letting me know. Im lucky that I dont rely on car too much and am just lazy. I live a 5 min walk from a huge tesco and even the dr's/town centre is only about 20-25 min walk.

But my mum, id miss my wee mum! I'l fill up on monday! £40 (full tank) usually lasts me 3-4 wks anyway as I dont travel far.
