i have the flakiest friend ever, she's really starting to piss me off!!

we've been friends since nursery but i swear if i met her now i wouldn't be her friend!! she's always arranging to do stuff with me and my other friends and then cancels on us last minute, it's getting to be too much of a habit for my liking.
anyways, i only have the friends i had a school, and only 2 of them still live round here, whereas she's something of a social butterfly (she usually cancels on us to see her other friends). last sunday she asked me to go for lunch and yesterday she cancelled on me, texting to say "i don't think i can manage" (you don't think???? either you can or you can't). she had her facebook status as "lovely start to a lovely weekend of friends, family and food " which at the time i "liked" since i thought it involved me, now being petty i've "unliked" it.

i don't think she realises that since i'm pretty much stuck in the house all day everyday with only a baby for company i'm pretty lonely and i spent the week looking forward to today, now i just feel bitter and resentful since her social life is too full to fit me in.

i'm not really sure if i'm getting to a point, i'm just really pissed off!

I get really f**ked off with people for not realising that what might be a day to day meeting for them is actually something I have not only looked forward to, but usually had to plan in advance to manage! I totally feel for you, and recommend joining some baby groups

I especially like your 'unliking' of her comment haha

Some people are just selfish adn dont realise how much cancelling plans like that is irritating and upsetting.

I hope you manage to sort it out with her. If not, maybe just keep your distance.

How about going to some mum and baby sessions to see if you can make some more friends who have similar things in common?

i think we all just pussy foot around her, i think i might have to say something next time (if i ever bother to make arrangements with her again )

i'm all for the baby groups, but sometimes it's nice to meet up for some none baby chat with my childless friends! the problem with the mother & baby groups is that the only thing i'll have in common is a baby and i don't want to be one of those woman who only talk about their child (i work with one and it's *$%£ irritating!!)

I know what you mean, I don't think I actually have anything much to say that isn't baby related these days - my brain is too hormone addled but yeah, having time off from being a mummy and being in 'mummyland' is probably really healthy - just possibly not with someone you sound like you don't like that much anymore!

yeah I AM cool but I have no idea what the rest of the world is doing at the moment - I feel totally isolated in my little world with Elijah, but the difference is for the time being I quite like it. I'm happy to just have a couple of people in my life my tolerance for the stuff you are describing is so low, anyone like that was long deleted from my phone haha

I found that once I moved from Perth and went to uni and stuff a lot of people I used to be friends with just didn't fit at all anymore - I still liked them but we just didn't have stuff in common anymore, I think there's an element of a natural evolution, it's just sh*t when you don't know where to evolve to

i think i was just having one of those shit days, i got a bit stressed out earlier on and had a cry i just hate when OH is between nightshifts cos i'm alone at night, then he sleeps all day and back to work at night so would have been a good day to go out.

I had a total meltdown yesterday because Eli poo'd as I was changing his nappy and I had been battling the 'routine' all morning and decided Elijah hated me well, you know where I am - not that far away! The only dates me and little prince here have are the ones you are going to anyway

i just bitched to another friend (Arwyn's godmother) and she invited me up to Aberdeen to see her. that'll be an operation and a half! but at least little miss will get a good sleep on the journey, she keeps fighting it just now and getting grumpy

what you need is the amazing tracy hogg book i bought! Eli just fell asleep all by himself sucking his thumb (awww) and went to bed at 10.30 last night - a whole 3 hours early! in between some serious sleep fighting, it seems to be working.

you could make it to aberdeen in an hour and a half so not too bad

i just got her to sleep on me there, better than nothing. don't know what she's playing at! that's good it's working for you, i like watching the baby whisperer on tv, i might borrow your wisdom if she continues! she's fine at night and in the morning, just fighting it afternoon & evening time and crying

Yeah Eli is just the same, sometimes I just give in and feed him to sleep he is screeching again now and will continue until he gives in

i kept feeding her last night to sleep but not doing it tonight, just rocking her on my legs and she's been out for 40mins or so.......and she's awake!

Awww hun, it's awful when friends are like this. I have a friend and I love her to bits, but she doesn't have kids and gets frustrated when I can't always meet up when she suggests it (but I do offer solutions). But today I met some friends for lunch and had a child free afternoon and it was bliss!!

Anyway - I would speak with your friend (if you get her to sit down for 5 mins) and explain to her how you feel, other than that then just dont bother with her anymroe

i'm not going to bother making any effort with her, i'll leave her to get back to me when she's got a free minute! she's not getting to be my bridesmaid anymore (if i ever get married )

oh no, you didn't sound harsh! i just meant that cos i've known her since we were 4 i'm not sure i want to just do away with her. plus when our gang get together she'll be there!
