After going 2 weeks over my due date I was taken into hospital to get induced. 2 pessaries and 48 hours and no sleep later still no baby so they took me down to labour ward at about 10am to get me started. I hated being induced as you are constantly strapped to a monitor once they give you your injection to get you started, so you can't move about and I even had to beg midwife to let me go to the toilet. This was just after they had broken my waters and there was meconium in my waters and she wanted to keep an eye on baby's heartbeat and movement. After about half an hour my contractions were coming thick and fast and midwife recommended I have an epidural so I was like YES PLEASE lol, after having my epidural I felt so much better, but the needle came out after 20 mins and stopped working and the doctor didnt want to risk putting it back in. The midwife examined me and said I was 4cm and said well I can't feel his head, I can feel his bum [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] So she said the only option I had was to have a C Section, and handed me the form to sign. Rob read the form and saw the words "may result in death" and started panicking big time! I asked to get my mum down to the hospital to sit with him, but she ended up bringing my SIL to sit with Rob and she came in with me.
The spinal didnt go very well, they sent a shock up back and down my left leg and made my spine bleed, but in the end got it right lol. My little munchkin was born at 5.54pm weighing a whopping 9lb14oz! The doctor who pulled him out actually said "Wow, this ones ready for school!" lol
Once he was out they got Rob in to hold Harry and he was very emotional and cried when Harry opened his eyes and looked right at him (he told me this later). The doctors asked my mum and Rob to leave while they stitched me up as I was losing a lot of blood (in the end lost 3 and half pints!) but I was out of theatre by 6.30pm and giving him his first feed 15 mins later!
