Just need some reassurance that this is likely to be a stage. I went into work for a day on 1st July and ever since then Jamie has been really clingy. His always wanted someone to be in a room with him but now he screams if I leave the room even if someone else is there. When oh or someone else is holding him he just throws himself at me. He spends half the day climbing over me (although that's partly because he can pull himself to standing on me and the furniture is too high for him) and will only play happily if I sit on the floor with him. Just wondered if it happened to others at this stage and if he'd grow out of it. I've been indulging him a bit because he really wasn't himself and was then teething but am going to work in September so if he hasn't got over it by then he is just going to have to deal with it

heya hun. i thought i'd missed this phase with B, but nope...today he has all of a sudden become the clingiest kid ever lol i can't even go out the room without him screaming...its so hard when they're crying and wanting mummy...but only way to get them to stop being clingy is to be cruel to be kind...just keep on doing the job you left the room to do etc and jamie will eventually learn that you do come back. Smile
hope it's not for too long for you and me both!! xx

Its a horrible stage but it does pass. Just make sure you let him know you are leaving the room but will be back in x minutes then come back when you say you will and he will learn in the end Mummy isnt going to leave him forever but its hard while its going on xxx

Hi Hun, i posted the same thing here a about 3 months back Noah went through the same thing at 7months- 9months. Every-time i left the room he would scream, he wouldn't go to no one.
From 10 months wen i started going back to work, him walking and becoming more independent also having to have him looked after. He has know completely changed, would go to all the family even family friends he barely knows.

It is diffo a phase hun, i think they say they either go through it at 7-9months or between 18-24 months.

Thanks ladies. Fortunately it only seems to be when I'm around. He was with my parents yesterday and was fine but as soon as I got back he wanted to climb over me.

I think that kids don't notice your not there when your not around but as soon as they see you they realise you weren't there and they get upset Wink
it IS just a phase it just means Jamie is becoming self aware and is realising that he is a separate person to mummy and he isn't quite sure of it. Just make sure you always tell him when your going and when you come back Smile
he will realise you aren't leaving him!
