We moved in to a new area 6 weeks ago and so far I've not been out to any toddler groups or such like with her, so I figure it's about time to get out and meet some new people.

There's a group on not far from me this afternoon so going to give that a go. I'm actually a bit nervous though. It didn't bother me when she was a baby as everyone else with new babies were in the same boat, but I guess mums with toddlers have already formed friendships with other mums so I feel like I'm going to be an outsider straight away. I just hope I don't sit there for the whole time with no-one talking to me

Thanks Ladies, well it went ok, got talking to a couple of other mums, Chloe managed to make a small child bleed not on purpose though, she was pushing a mini shopping trolley around and this little boy crawled over and tried to use the trolley to stand up and it didn't hold his weight so it toppled over and cut his lip. Chloe cried because she thought she'd been naughty and the mum was a bit shitty with me but she should have been watching him. Other than that it wasn't too bad, we'll go back next week

Aww, glad you had fun. I can't believe that mother was being shity with you though, If Moo ever hurts himself or gets into a scuffle with another LO I would never take it out on the child or parent, things just happen and toddlers don't know no better sometimes.

I love my group and have made some fab friends, we meet up regular through the week too, which is good cos Moo (and his bump buddy) gets booted out when they're 2

For all thoses mummys that haven't been to one, go!, its never too late

the thing is poor little Chloe was struggling to keep the trolley upright so it wouldn't fall and I saw it coming and didn't get there on time, as she was over the other side of the room from me. Unfortunately some mums just go to these places to catch up with their friends and don't watch their kids, as they're far too interested in gossiping

Exactly. We go to a soft play centre regulaly and last time we were there it was really busy and this mum had brought a few kiddies, she sat at a table with her head in a magazine and didn't lift it one to see if her kids were ok, she was there a good hour and half only lifted it when she got a text.
