Jamie's basically had no fluids since 10 last night. I managed to get half a yoghurt into him this morning which I guess will help but his refusing the breast and has only had the tiniest amount of water from the cup. Where its hot and he has a temp his sweating loads as well. The dr said just keep offering it but thats not really working. When he wakes up I will have to express off so will see if he'll take a bottle. If not do you think I should try syringeing some in? Or if I try that should it be water? Also should I let him sleep as long as he wants or wake him up to try and get some fluids in?

heya, i responded to your other post, but i will say it again make sure you are eating/drinking loads to keep up with him, also just try whatever might work, milk, ebm, diluted juice (fresh or diluting), you can also do things like weak juice ice cubes that he might like to chew/play wit/eat which will be nice for his throat and dioralye will help if you can get him to drink it...just tiny sips are good as his tummy is still small. oh..and remember that he will be better in no time, just do your best and give him lots of cuddles

ohhh and also, yeah i would probably try a syringe if you are really worried, or just keep offering him drinks (i know that's the hard way to go especially if he is snuffly and has a sore throat)

Thanks Mari. He woke up, had a massive feed and went back to sleep so less worried about that now.

He seems much better now. He has one bottle of formula now ready for me going back to work and just drained 6oz in five minutes whereas it can normally take us an hour to get 4oz in. Thanks for the suggestions though ladies
