Anybody had a new bathroom recently?. I want an idea what it would cost approx for a new bathroom suite and separate shower and fully tiled. I've no idea at all what sort of money it will be.

We are having ours done though we are having the bath moved round. All in all ours will cost about 4k. Our fitting cost was about £2500. I would have thought b and q bits would be reasonably priced. We're having a unit with the loo and sink built in. Though where we are living now we were quoted £1000 to tile and strip walls etc and got a b and q quote of £1000 for all the bits x

The cost depends on what you do really hun, if you know someone that can do it cheap then obviously that will bring costs down, also if you are having walls replastered, if you go for expensive tiles/expensive taps etc then these things will bump the cost up alot. When we had ours done we had everything ripped out and walls/ceilings replastered, we also shopped around everywhere looking for cheap sanitary fittings, we managed to get most of the bits from Wickes, got the toilet from B&Q (it was an off the shelf one), but you could also look on Ebay as you can pick up some real bargains from shops on there. We got our taps from B&Q in the sale - the bath mixer should of been £200 and we got it for £50 and the sink mixer should of been £150 and again that was £50. The shower fittings are a really nice modern, simple design and we got that off Ebay for a quarter of the RRP. Another tip is to go to small independant tile shops, they tend to have sales on old stock and need to get rid as they dont have the storage space - we saved a small fortune on our tiles. Doing all of the above bargain hunting I would say the total cost of our bathroom was around £1000 including the flooring

I don't know how much ours was but I know we saved alot by shopping around. We got our bathroom suite cheap as it ex display and the same with our shower. We got plain slate colour tiles for the floor in the b&q sale. Plain white tiles from tops for the Walls and splashed out on some fancy mosaic black tiles for a border and also used them around the shower base. It's huge and looks really expensive but it wasn't. I'd stay clear of companies such as dolphin as they're mega expensive. xx
