| Date / Desc / Amount / Balance 23-Sep-11 Direct Debit £2.99 £95.64 23-Sep-11 Direct Debit £17.95 £77.69 26-Sep-11 Direct Debit £8.32 £69.37 26-Sep-11 Direct Debit £12.59 £56.78 26-Sep-11 Unpaid Direct Debit £12.59 £69.37 27-Sep-11 Bank Credit £20.30 £89.67 27-Sep-11 Direct Debit £7.95 £81.72
What on earth is my bank doing?! They have bounced a direct debit when there was more than enough in it yesterday - even today after that other direct debit has gone out today there is more than enough...AND my 'available balance' (which is slightly less than the balance there, due to a card payment on the weekend) is also still by a long way than what I need to cover the bloody £12.59. I know there is nothing else as I keep a strict record of what I've used my card for and there should be plenty to cover it!
I have a feeling its Tesco - I have a shopping delivery due tomorrow afternoon which will be covered by money going in tomorrow morning - has anyone else had this happen? If it is the case I am going to kick up an almighty fuss cos it is disgusting that they can 'hold' your money with no clue that it is (surely if they do it then it should come out of my available balance?!) - but either way they shouldn't be able to 'take' money before they've even done the bloody shopping! I do my shopping every week with Tesco, never noticed before but I spose maybe it depends what date my other payments go out?! BUT saying that I've also ordered my shopping on the weekend when I've only got loads less than what the shopping is (know that money goes in before the shopping will be done) ... so maybe its not that.
FUMING!

| Dont even get me started on this!
I have had so many problems with 'authorisation holds' that I have had to do endless emails to my bank.
Tesco are really naughty for doing authorisation holds on your account, even though they havent yet taken the money. John Lewis are bad for doing it too (they actually do the hold on your account, then take the cash, so your balance is twice the amount down for a good few days).
I could honestly go on forever about this. My bank bounced my monthly National Heart Foundation donation because of this a couple of months ago and I was raging!

| Tescos put a 2 pound authorisation hold on your acount untilo they take the money, ive had this recently if you recall with them doing that then ringing up cos they wanted the entire amount authorised even though id used vouchers so id say it probably is them and id make sure your bank doesnt get to charging you |

£2 rings a bell actually i remember my available balance goes down by that each week! Hmmm so in that case my bank are pillarks! It's still showing as the same balance, nothing has gone out today so they rejected it for no reason as still more than enough to cover it! I'm worried my shopping is not going to go through tomorrow now though even though the money will be there! |

| YAY she said it was cos a 'hold' had been made for something that didn't go out until yesterday - she said she thinks the bank should change it lol cos its silly and catches lots of people out!
BUT she took the charge off anyway as my available balance never showed at less than what the amount of the direct debit was!!! |

| Glad you got it sorted out. It's a good job you keep a close eye on your statement, I don't think I would have noticed for ages cos I just look at the balance and shit myself on the lead up to payday, then the statement comes a couple week later and I look to see how close to the line we actually got! |
