A few people have warned me that afterpains are awful after your second baby. Is this true? What do they feel like? Is it worse if you BF? Im getting a bit scared of them. Suppose I should really be focusing on labour but think im mentally blocking that part out for the mean time!

Mine weren't bad at all - well they cant of been because I cant really remember them

I remember waking up from my section thinking I was in labour as it felt exatly the same

My after pains where really painful but that'd cozi had the pain all in my back again like in labour :-( sorry don't wana scare you but everyone is diff x

mine were just like period pains, alot less than labour, but they lasted about 4days, they were a shock to my system as i had nothing like it with lily-ann, so i'm dreading it this time!

Im probably not the best person to ask.

I was so shocked at how painful they were. They felt like full on labour pains to me (contractions at 8cm ish) and were worse when I was bf. It got to the point (after 24 hours) where I ended up giving Lily a bottle because I wimped out and found it too painful.

My SIL said that they get even worse with the more kids you have so I am really dreading this time around too. x

Although... I should just add, I did have a bit of placenta left inside that made its way out on day 5, so whether that had anything to do with the pain (???). x

I had worse pain this time round... only when I breastfed though. It wasn't too awful. Just like bad period pains. Didn't get them after a week or so I think.

Labour for me was less painful.

My labours are not very painful but as soon as I gave birth to H I had constant pain until they gave me pain killers. Because I was BF it was even more painful. My womb shrank down to it's normal size by day 5 which is really quick. On day 4 I was in utter agony I was in horrific pain more then what my labour was like. I sat in a hot bath for over an hour. I remand with Rowan it was really strong period pains.

Don't want to scare but make sure someone is around to tKe the baby off you if and when it happens as being stressed will not help

I do t cry from pain but I was sat on the sofa BF H in tears feom the pain

mine were worse after my 1st, it was horrible it would make me cry it was that painful...its like labour again lol...but the second time i braced myself for them and thank god they never came!!! yes also they did come on everytime i bf him xx

Eeek that sounds awful Kelly! Stu will be home for a month fingers crossed as he has 2 weeks paternity and 2 weeks hols after xmas. My mum should be able to help out too. Tbh I hope they aint that bad as if its linked to BF it would prob make me quit! BF is hard enough with sore nips never mind contractions too!!!

It was the hardest part of BF for me it took all I had to sit there and feed her whilst it made the pain worse.

Hopefully you won't get it or as bad but be prepared

they cant be that bad ( with me i mean ) as 3 kids later i cannot remember anything like you ladies are explaining yes i had some cramps but they were more slight period pains x x

I can't say I had many to be honest. I left the hospital a couple of hours after h was born at about 2am and didn't have many problems. Try not to think too much about it Hun just think of your gorgeous bundle x
